Pool Party, Here We Come is an easy and fun horse Halloween costume you can throw together quickly. If you don't have a snorkel, inflatable pool, round tube float, beach towel, and life vest you can usually pick these items up easily at a local store. This makes the costume a super great option if you are at a horse show and decide to join the costume class last minute.

BARBIE AND HER HORSE

Brooke’s Barbie and Her Horse costume is both cute and easy. Some horse safe pink pain, pink ribbon, pink hoof paint, and pink boots/polo wraps could create a similar look for your horse. The Subhay horse Halloween costume is both funny and creative. It does take a little more time to create because you have to get the fabric, create the letters, and put everything together but I think you could definitely put it together in just a few days. 

IT'S A HORSE THING

It's a Horse Thing - while the work that went into this costume is nothing to laugh at, any Dr. Seuss themed horse Halloween costume is always a good laugh. This is another horse and rider costume that needs a bit more planning but definitely is a great option. Plus if you have friends that want to do a group look you could all do Dr. Seuss characters making this an easy group horse Halloween costume theme.

rainbow brite and sprite

I think this Rainbow Brite And Sprite Halloween horse costume is just so cute and definitely a good laugh (I mean look at that wig). While you do definitely need a certain amount of supplies for this costume it could largely be created with items from the store and thrifted items - including the wig.  You could even add more rainbow elements to this costume to take it up another notch if you wanted to.

The Horse "Mobil" And Batgirl costume is a great horse and rider Halloween costume. It clearly conveys a Batman and Batmobile look without a ton of elements and the saddle doesn't ruin the effect. Plus since Batman is so popular it would probably be a costume that would be easy to get different elements for and limit what you have to do yourself.

pokey the seahorse/mermaid

Okay while I will say please wear a helmet - this Pokey The Seahorse/Mermaid costume is so fun. I love that the mermaid tail really incorporates the rider into the costume and that the sheet can easily be designed to go right over a saddle, making for a more secure ride during your costume contest class.

john deere tractor

John Deere Tractor is a costume that definitely has a lot of work that goes into it, but if you have the time you can create this awesome horse and rider Halloween costume. I think it is pretty safe to say that if you create this costume and wear it at your next horse Halloween costume event people will be impressed.

Halloween Costumes with a Horse: Group and Duo Ideas

HORSE STORY

Horse Story is a group costume (click on the link to see everyone's costume). I think this is just a great group Halloween costume idea because as all Toy Story fans know there are a ton of characters that people could dress them and their horses up as making it so anyone that wants to participate can!

Mario Kart

Mario Kart is another great group horse and rider costume idea. Not only is the theme recognizable with just one or two horse and riders, but adding more characters would just add to the overall feel. One of the great things here to is that the general basis for the costumes is pretty similar so if one person really excels at cutting the cardboard and another is great at painting you can divide the tasks up.

MYSTERY INC

Mystery Inc is yet another great group horse and rider Halloween costume. You could pick any Scooby Doo episode you wanted and do an entire costume theme around that (which I think would be super cool). But if you want to do exactly what these horse owners did you can definitely do that and clearly still have a really cool costume.

• Try to use soft, breathable fabrics and materials that your horse can easily rip/break out of if necessary
• Avoid costumes that restrict your horse's movement, vision, or breathing 
• Introduce costumes slowly to your horse so they aren't spooked or nervous
• Keep accessories and costumes lightweight and non-toxic 
• Always supervise your horse while they are in their costume and try to make sure there is nothing for them to hurt themselves on or to spook them just as trailing pieces they could step on
