I have begged my parents for a horse a long time. Just a bit ago, Dad said I could get 1 next spring. I'm surprised he said that because I had begged so much. Who cares cause now I at least know I am getting one.

I know this is not what you want to hear, but this is what I did and it works. First off and most important, don't bug them. Second take lessons really seriously. Do your best and learn all you can. Try to earn money doing jobs around the house or for others. It make take a while, but it will work. I hope that helps! Good luck!

You could lease a horse and have one of your parents stay there when you ride and help you. That's what I did.

your first horse should NOT be any of these horses i list, an off the track thoroughbred, a rescue (but it kinda depends...), a free horse (there's a reason why they are free), a really young horse(ages 2-5), or a hot headed crazy horse that is hard to control. you will want an easy going pony or horse, i would say... maybe 14-15.3 hands? and whatever discipline you want to do with it, that's the discipline it should have training in. like don't get a show jumper if you want to do western pleasure or something. but you also don't want a horse/pony that will be a super easy ride. you want something that can challenge you and make you a better rider. hope this helped:D

Fostering horses is defiantly NOT the answer for your first horse! Rent or lease at a nearby barn at first! Getting money: Horses don't always cost money to buy them! Look on the internet for free horses that are good at riding! You could even train one if you were experienced! Money is hard to find in my family, but I have horses! Find a pasture near you, maybe you could borrow it, or lease it for a good price, then feed is already cared for! Saddle, bridle, etc: OK, that is on your hands, you have to find the money for that! Allowance, birthday money, Christmas money, whatever it is, you have to buy the tack!
Maybe you can make a deal with the stable with leasing the horse, or boarding your horse there!

You could foster a horse.
At my rescue center (Not my own barn) you don't have to pay for anything.
But you do have to give a 300 dollar donation. To help out.
But at my horse rescue, they let you foster a horse for 4 years!!!!!!
Hopefully soon I'll be fostering a horse.
