Ruffian is a true story about a beautiful black filly. She was considered the fastest horse in her time, and won all ten races she ran in her career. But Ruffian's eleventh race, which turned into a match race between her and another colt, would bring plenty of pain.

I liked this movie because it was shown after a recent race where another great filly won, a race that was run at the track where Ruffian is buried. Be prepared to cry!

I cried non-stop through the part where she breaks down and eventually dies. The rest was happy. 9 and up for some language.

I adore this movie, It's not like phar. lap, which i think is boring in some parts. it's awesome the whole way through. She won every race she ever did. I always cry at the end but it's so worth it to know the story of this AMAZING filly.

It was very sad at the ending. i am sure everybody who sees that movie will cry at the end because of what happened. Besides that the whole entire movie was amazing and fantastic. he is very beautiful and tough, i just wish that thing didn't happen at the end.

ruffian is a beautiful 2/3 year old filly who is a great racer. but races against a 3 year old colt named foolish pleasure. no one knows if she can win.at the end ruffian is buried under the track and was the only horse buried there ever since

Prolific French filmmaker Yves Simoneau directs Sam Shepard and Frank Whaley in a sports drama detailing the remarkable racing career of the horse many believe to be the finest thoroughbred filly ever to run the tracks. In her first ten runs Ruffian was unbeaten, and continued to break longstanding records with every stride. But some careers are like shooting stars, and in just her second season racing Ruffian suffered a career-ending injury. On July 6, 1975, race fans gathered at the Belmont and in front of their televisions eager to witness the prized racehorse's eleventh official race. Billed as the "Battle of the Sexes," this landmark run pitted Ruffian against Kentucky Derby top colt Foolish Paradise. As the race got underway Ruffian was running at her best, but disaster would strike just short of the one-mile marker. It was there that Ruffian would take a brutal tumble that would effectively end both her racing career, and her life. Yet despite her tragic end, Ruffian's inspirational story lives on in this drama that shows why she was the only horse ever to be buried at the Belmont.

I loved the movie and cried so hard that my stomach hurt! I wish sometimes I could go back in time to stop from that horrible tragedy happening.Ruffian is a young filly who is gifted in running and has two trajic accidents that are so heartbreaking! You really fall in love with her and never think that could have ever happened to her and just cry forever!

It is the true story of the fastest filly to ever set foot on a race track. This heartwarming tear jerking beloved true story is about a young black filly named ruffian, and her trainer. It is the best movie of all time. and if u loved the Barbaro story you will love this!
