Come One, Come All to the Best Circus of Them All!
How did you come up with the costume idea? My original idea turned out to be too complicated to complete in time for Halloween due to unplanned time constraints. So we had to change course a few weeks ago. The owner of our local tack shop (Cross Road Tack Shop) found the clown shoes in a dumpster since her shop is near a building used by a theater group. She saved them and gave them to me knowing that we do lots of costumes. I built the rest of the story around those shoes.
How did you make it? Ticket booth is re-purposed kissing booth with just a few new labels added. Strongman, ringmaster and clown costumes are purchased. Clown costume is a "people" costume, with pants just cut down the back seam to be able to pull on Poco's legs. Poco's wig is actually two wigs sewn together. Had to watch YouTube videos to learn to make the balloon dog Poco is holding.
How much did it cost? About $160.
Where did you wear it? For our Halloween photo shoot (Poco has a large fan club😂) and for entry into several contests.
How did your horse like it? He's a trooper and doesn't mind any of the crazy ideas we come up with. He was exceptionally good for this photo shoot.
How did people react? We received lots of positive comments to date. I haven't posted it to my Facebook page yet, waiting for Halloween. Everyone is always amazed that Poco tolerates the costumes. And that my husband is willing to participate.
