I absolutely love this idea: a personalized riding bat or crop. I am always losing my crops and it used to drive my mom nuts. What a great idea to personalize it with your initials! It looks great and it's so much easier to find yours if you misplace it.

You can get the aluminimum end cap engraved with your monogram or text. Monogram options include interlocking, circle, diamond and basic three letter Roman. Any of those would look great. The end cap comes in small (3/4 inch) or large (1.5 inch).

It has a nylon shaft, leather popper and black leather handle. It comes in 19, 21 or 24 inch lengths.

This riding bat or crop comes from Horse Fare Products.

I think it makes a great personalized gift for a rider! What do you think? Let me know in the comments below.

Platinum Performance Equine review

A picture of a bucket of platinum performance for horses

Several people at my barn, including my trainer, love this brand of supplements for horses. They have a very good reputation for quality and performance. I am really excited that they have offered me the opportunity to try it with Sinatra. And they are going to donate a one-month supply to one lucky horsecrazy girl as well, so be sure to watch our contest page for the announcement:

Enter our contests here

There are a number of different formulas available depending on what you are trying to achieve. They include Equine Wellness, a joint supplement, skin and allergy, and gastric support. And there are a number of specialized supplements as well. The list is impressive!

They also have products for dogs and human riders as well.

I will have more to report soon once we have used the product with Sinatra. I can't wait to share the results.

In the meantime, if you use Platinum Performance products, I'd love to hear what you like - as well as which ones you hope to try! Share your thoughts in the comments below.

This monthly subscription box is like pony camp in a box! Delivered monthly to horse-crazed girls, it's packed with fun items for the pony dreamer, occasional rider & current horse owner.

I was impressed by the variety of items in the box, and was really happy to see one of my favorite horse books included in the box I reviewed. I feel like it has a little something for everyone and I know I would have absolutely loved getting a Pony Xpress Club box when I was younger. Who doesn't love a horse-themed surprise?

Plus, I love the fact that it was created by Julie, a horse crazy girl, for girls who love horses.

Watch my video where I unbox one:

When your friends or family want to know what to get you, send them to the Pony Xpress Club website for Pony Xpress Club!

FYI: Pony Xpress did not pay me for this video or review. They sent me a box to demo and one to donate to a lucky winner in our competition. I am donating the contents of this box to a toy drive.

Best. Subscription Box. Ever!!
by: HorseCraziestGirl

I received one Pony Xpress Club box for Christmas and it was amazing! There are two different sizes you can get (Pony Size, 3-5 items, $40; Horse Size, 5-8 items, $60) and you can buy single boxes, too.

I received a "The Barn is Calling and I Must Go!" mug, color-changing hot chocolate, a horse + snowflake ornament, and a mare and foal cookie cutter, with instructions for how to build a gingerbread stable, in the Christmas Pony Size box. (The hot chocolate was amazing!)

Overall, amazing box, and I will definitely be purchasing another one sometime!

Super Soft Blanket For Horse Lovers

A blanket with a buckskin horse and background made up of brown, tan, and white colors in a variety of patterns in different stripes.

I am a Florida girl so I get cold really easily, and I love a soft blanket to help keep me warm. So when Rows of Throws told me about their fleece blankets with horse designs and asked me if I wanted to feature them on the site, of course I said yes!

They sent me one to try and I fell in love. It's super soft and the double-sided design features an adorable buckskin pony with the sweetest face. I think the artwork is really well done and would look awesome in an equestrian-themed room!

The throw is also extremely large (63" x 73") as well, making it even more comfortable and perfect for chilly nights. In fact, I am curled up in mine as I am writing this!

Plus, it comes beautifully packaged in a pretty brown satin bow, if you want to give it as a gift. I am sure a horsecrazy girl of any age would love to get one of these as a birthday or holiday present.

A bracelet and a set of earrings displayed on a light brown set of braided reins. The earrings are made of light brown felt with pink and silver beads. The bracelet is composed of two pieces of brown felt covered in pink and silver beads with a horse charm and a brown felt tassel.

Galloping Girls was created by a former Miss Rodeo America as a way to connect with and celebrate those who LOVE horses and can say "I am a horse crazy girl". Celebrate that love with a matching set of jewelry. I have a line of jewelry that I have created with a tween age group in mind that has matching pieces for a girl and her horse! I have made a commitment to keep these sets reasonably priced.
Each design was named for and inspired by the qualities of a horse I loved.

You can mix and match pieces for you (braceletts, earrings, purse charms and key chains) and your horse (bridle and saddle charms, tack box key chains, bridle brow bands and mane clips).

I will also custom make a charm design for your group or team! Just send me your colors and a design selection and unite your team with a matching charm.

Celebrate Valentine's Day with a gift of hearts. Made from lamp worked glass hearts and a Tibetan silver horse charm. These are a great Valentine's Day gift for those horse lovers you know.

Hi Anne, Aspen and Pam,

I have loved the process of creating and naming my jewelry after horses I have loved. I really like the Black Crow set myself!

I am excited about the "Team Charms" and think it would be so fun to make charms foe all kinds of teams- 4-H groups, high rodeo teams, students of coaches or even just a special charm to connect a groups of friends.

What do you think?

Appaloosa
by: Aspen

Susan Agricola, I'm such a fan of Appaloosas, when I'm drawing or writing a story I always add an Appaloosa in it. I also have a Breyer horse who is actually Little Ricky Rocker and I named him Buddy and he's such a beautiful horse. And still, the black crow one is awesome!

I can see where you could expand the vision and have the entire team wearing matching jewelry. And in team colors too!!

I love the Poky's Pride Set and I'm also excited about the Black Crow Set. The designs are so unique and so perfect for today's rider.

Way to go Galloping Girls!!

Then to the right of that shows the Horses Category winner Horses Product of the year 2016.

Betty’s Strip Hair products are wonderful grooming tools. They are super easy to use, painless for your four-legged companion, easy to clean, and so much more. I have tried them on my own horse and was super impressed with how well each product included in the kit worked. The kit they gave me to try was cutely packaged and will make a great horse lover gift for any occasion.

Large and mini strip hair groomer

These are the two main tools included in the kit. They can be used for de-shedding, getting mud and dirt off, buffing hooves, or just overall grooming to create extra shine and keep your horse’s coat healthy. The smaller one is particularly handy as it can be used on the face and legs painlessly, which is really nice since there are not many effective grooming products on the market that I feel safe using on my horse’s face and legs. They are flexible and easy to clean; all you have to do is wipe them off with a cloth. You can even use them when bathing your horse. They are incredibly versatile.

Betty’s Best Health Skin Spray

This stuff smells amazing. It had to be one of the few great smelling, yet effective skin sprays out there. I have only been using it for a few days on my horse’s dry skin patches but they are already doing so much better.

This skin spray has a ton of different applications though.mIt can be used to just pull extra dust off; to treat itchy skin, bug bites, skin scald, cannon bone build-up, fungal issues, or bacterial issues; repel flying insects, or repel fleas and ticks from pets and bedding.

StripHair Grooming Cloth

These grooming cloths are the perfect tool to use at the end of your grooming regiment. They easily pick up any dust or dirt left over from the initial grooming. I have found that it works by either spraying some of the skin spray on the cloth then running it over my horse's skin or just by getting it wet, ringing it out and running it over my horse's body. They are also easy to clean. All you have to do is dunk them in the water, ring them out, and let them dry.

They will be releasing new products soon so make sure you stay tuned and be sure to check out my unboxing video of these products (coming soon).

When it rains here more than it doesn’t, the horses like to roll in it and get muddy and I don’t mind it, heck I would do it also if I didn’t have to wash out the mud stains 😂 but it would definitely make it easier and a lot more gentle on their skin, with this Grooming Kit!

Interview with Susan, creator of AllPony

When/how did you become a horsecrazy girl?

I started taking riding lessons when I was 10, although I have loved horses for as long as I can remember. I took lessons at a hunter/jumper barn and showed in local hunter shows on ponies and small horses. I owned and leased numerous horses & ponies that I showed in hunters and combined training.

I fell in love with dressage as a teenager and had the opportunity to lease a Grand Prix trained lipizzan schoolmaster. Fred was his barn name and he had just been hanging out in a field for several years and was still a stallion when I tried him.

His coat was orange from red clay stains and he had no muscle tone. We had him gelded and brought him back into work. Fred was an incredibly kind and gentle soul, and taught me so much. I showed him through third level and schooled through Prix St George over the next couple of years.

Since then I have been a working student for professional riders and have done a lot of catch riding and most recently taken on a couple of sale horses that I got back into shape and helped find homes for. I now am back to riding hunters after having two kids, and show in the Adult Amateur division.

How did you come up with the idea for your website and activity books?

I am a digital designer & fine artist, and I developed Allpony and the activity book as a way to marry my web, graphic design and fine art skills with my love of riding to teach my own children about horsemanship. It has grown from there and has become a resource for other horse-crazy kids.

Why did you create your site/activity guides?
I pulled horsemanship terminology and information from Pony Club Quiz Rally guides and my own experience, and came up with the idea for the activity book from Highlights magazines that my kids get. The imagery for the website and the activity book is created in Adobe Illustrator and InDesign, and the website is built in Wordpress.

Do you have horses now?
I have a 7 year old Belgian Warmblood mare that I am leasing named Kara.

Really cool idea!
by: Sydney from horsecrazygirls.com

I think this is a really cool idea and I like that riders get feedback. That's the one thing that I don't like about some horseshows - you don't know why you placed the way you did and don't learn from the judges.

This sounds really fun.

Equestrian Hair Net

by Sydney at HorseCrazyGirls.com
(Florida, USA)

My Favorite Equestrian Hair Net

As you can see I have very long hair. Trying to get my hair into a hairnet for riding was a real pain! It involved lots of barrettes and hairpins, and even then hair would fall out and stick out of the side of my helmet.

A girl with waist length brown hair tied back into a ponytail with a white hair tie. The girl is wearing a pink shirt, there is a white dog facing the camera, and plants in the background.

That's why I was so excited to find the No Knot Hair Net. It is awesome! It takes me just a few minutes to put my hair up. I use it all the time just for riding at my barn as well as for shows.

I even bought one for my friend Amanda who has thicker hair than me and I lent mine to a friend at a horse show who was struggling to get her hair in the net she brought.

By the way I think this hair net is awesome for those with short hair too, especially if your hair is different lengths and wants to stick out everywhere!

Here's how it works

First, you will notice it is different than most hair nets. It looks like a headband.

You start by putting it around your neck. I like to have my hair in a ponytail but you don't have to do that if you don't want to.

A side view of a girl with waist length brown hair tied back into a ponytail with a white hair tie. The girl is wearing a pink shirt and has a hair netaround her neck and is pulling it forward with her hands. There are plants in the background.

Keeping the wider band at the bottom, pull the top up around your head like you would a headband.

A girl with waist length brown hair tied back into a ponytail with a white hair tie. The girl is wearing a pink shirt and is wearing a hair net like a headband. There is a white dog laying down and plants in the background.

Keep pulling until all your hair is in the net. (I usually stuff the ends in the top of mine.)

Then just put your helmet on.

Big Sky Inspirations offers Greeting Cards that feature scenic photography of horses and nature as well as inspirational scripture. Christian equestrians will love our cards.

Visit Big Sky Inspirations

From Sydney at HorseCrazyGirls.com:

When Janine told me about her cards, I visited the Big Sky Inspirations website and thought the cards were stunning! So I asked her to tell us more about her business.

How long have you been a horsecrazy girl? I've loved horses since I was 4 years old. Enjoyed them as a kid/young teen and then waited 25 years to get back into horses. Have been enjoying horses for the last eight years and love every minute of it!

What inspired you to start your company? I am the founder and I started the business in 2010. I was born and raised in San Diego County and lived there all my life. In 2010, we moved our family to Southwestern Idaho (Boise area) and have loved it since the day we arrived. Southwestern Idaho is definitely Big Sky country with expansive skies and dramatic cloud formations. Southwestern Idaho is also serious horse country.

Driving around is a delight viewing horses grazing, horse trailers driving by, trees changing color with the seasons, all under the canape of a magnificent sky! Thus, I began taking photos of this beautiful area. One morning while driving my kids to school I had a strong impression to combine my love of beautiful Idaho with greeting cards that would encourage and inspire the friends and family I wanted to stay in touch with, then the name, Big Sky Inspirations came to mind.

How do you find the beautiful photos for your cards? It started with me taking photographs driving around the area in which I live for the first 2 years. Then my sister and her family moved nearby. My sister, Jannette Tan, loved the beauty of Idaho as well and has enjoyed being an amateur photographer for awhile, so I started incorporating her beautiful photographs as well.

Last year, my sister started an internship under a professional photographer, Andrea Cobler, and I was delighted to include many of Andrea's amazing photographs.

This year I met a native Idahoan, Janice Hutchinson, who also enjoyed taking photographs of beautiful Idaho and have added some of her beautiful photos.

The most recent contributing photographer is a veterinarian who loves hunting, Danny Borders. I have made a couple cards with his photographs as well. In addition to five photographers in all, I have a dear friend from San Diego, Isabella Chamyan Ketenjian, who is a fantastic watercolor artist, and I have displayed many of her paintings on my cards as well.

Special Features of my cards:
I currently have nearly 400 different greeting cards, most of which feature Southwestern Idaho. Of this quantity, about 100 cards display much beloved horses!

Big Sky Inspirations greeting cards feature a full color photograph on both the front and back of each card as well as a grayscale photograph on the inside and are made of high quality card stock. Stated on the back of each card are the location where the photo was taken and the photographer who took that photo.

Do you have horses now? Yes, I have a wonderful mare named Abbi. She is an excellent trail horse, and we have developed a strong bond over the last three years. She has been a model for many of our cards, and I love her dearly.

SaddleBox Subscription Box Review

by Sydney from HorseCrazyGirls.com
(Sarasota FL)

A SaddleBox subscription box. It shows the light blue box with white lettering that says SaddleBox and has a picture of a cartoon horse head and a heart. The box is open and has a purple Better Sheeder, a blue horse brush, a candy cane, a horse treat that looks like an ice cream cone, a book called The Little Red Book of Horse Wisdom, a blue Scrubby a hoof pick, hoof conditioner, and a green item in the back.

I love getting packages while I am away at college. If you love surprises like I do, then be sure to check out SaddleBox. It's a subscription box filled with treats, tack, gear and horse-themed gifts every month!

You can see me unbox a SaddleBox in this video:

Here's what I like about it:

The quality of the items in the box seem great and it's fun for you and your horse!

I like getting to try new products I may not be familiar with.

It makes an awesome gift for a horse lover. (How many times do your non-horsey friends or relatives wonder what to give you for gifts?)

It's very flexible. The box automatically renews each month, and you can cancel at anytime. There is also a gift option where someone can give one, three, six or twelve months worth of boxes. Shipping is free.

This is great for horsecrazy girls (and guys) of all ages. It is geared toward someone who has a horse, or leases one. If you are planning on getting a horse, this would be fun to help fill up your tack trunk!

By the way, SaddleBox did not pay me for this review. They sent me a sample box to review and donated one to a lucky winner of our December 2017 contest.

I hope I win. I'm trying to get this for my boyfriend because he just started riding horses with me and he still wants to learn and know more. It would be a nice welcome home gift for him and his horse because they left for a show for 2 weeks and are coming back. So excited!
