I know what you mean!
by: Claudiahorselovr

I've been bullied a lot, physically,(physically is hitting) and I also got cyber bullied. I don't speak to the girl who cyber bullied me, but the girl who bullied me physically I have to see every day. I'm not mean to her because I have to see her everyday day, because she is PERFECT! People think she is a total angel! I'm not kidding! Anyway, just ignore those people, but you can be nice to them. Be nice, but don't be a doormat! I'm rooting for you girlfriend!

I agree with Elisabeth riding4Jesus! Be kind and just understand that some people are like that. Explain to her nicely about what you know. If she still snaps turn the other cheek.

Hi everyone
by: Unicorn

Ya' know, I guess the best way to handle crabby riders is simply to be really, really nice to them. Not having met a lot of them, I wouldn't be very wise about this, but the Bible says in Romans 12:20: Therefore if thine enemy hunger, feed him; if he thirst, give him drink: for in so doing thou shalt heap coals of fire on his head.
Besides, they could have deep unhappiness in their lives that causes them to be snappish, in which case I guess they could do with some being nice. In the end, the Bible and a trusted adult have the best answers.

WOWOOWOWOWOW!
by: TheRider

Hun, you might have to go through a lot more than this as you get older! People questioning your beliefs and answers, but always be ready! But, a horse LESS than 14 hands is considered a pony not a 14 hand horse! But I think what she meant is, pony's are pony's, and horses are horses, it's always like that. If it's like a welsh, it's a pony, a QH is a horse. Pony's don't grow up into horses. But you might of meant "So he's pony size". If she knew a lot about horses she'd know that a rescue horse isn't a good horse to be your first.

I had a rider that had only taken for like barely 6 months and she thought she new everything. She ran into horses, etc, and blamed it on others. She even told a girl who had been riding since she was 3 that she was a better rider than her! Then she goes around saying how bad her horses (Or the horse that she was riding) lope was horrible, and the horse couldn't turn, etc. I got on her, and she was PERFECT! She lied a lot, but I knew it was just peer pressure and insecurity.

Anyway, hope I didn't sound bossy or no-it-all!

I KNOW!!!
by: lilylovespebbles

i so get what you saying!! i have heard so many people get so crabby because the people asking for help 'have no idea what they are doing' (i don't say that, they do). there are so many people who have been 'riding their whole life' and 'know what they are doing', some people are so rude that they can put people down over their riding discipline (e.g barrel racing looks sloppy - i have heard that before on this site and i take it very offensively)
So you crabby riders out their .... STOP BEING SO CRABBY!!!

Ugh I know!
by: anonymous

I know exactly what you mean! I hate dealing with people like that. My friend keeps trying to tell me who has a greenish, skittish horse that it would be a good idea to trailer her to her barn for just a day to see how she would do in an open field (she's a warmblooded with a lot of energy and willing to take her chances of running when she can) and jump jumps like she's never seen before! I'm like no.... you want to kill me or my horse? I don't think so! It bothers me so much when people think they know you, your horse, or just horses in general so well... what I also hate is when people try to knock you down saying that a horse will never take you to a certain goal or something... have you ever had that happen?

Hi Charlie's Owner
by: Unicorn

Oh yes, crabby riders are unfortunately all too common!! Even down here in South Africa where I live. They give us horse people such a bad name, which is a pity because we're privileged to work with the loveliest of all God's creatures. For the record... I like small horses! 14.1-15.2hh is my comfort zone. (Because I am just over five feet and built like a toothpick :-D). A British pony by the name of Stroller, who was about 14.1hh, was an Olympic show jumper once. At the end of the day it's the size of his heart, not his body, that really counts... for me anyway...

P. S. Thought you guys would find Stroller interesting so here is an article about him: http://www.showjumpingnostalgia.com/?p=253

I can't stand them
by: englishrider

I know what you mean, I'm not really sure how to deal with it, but I'd try to nicely remind her
that she may know a lot, but she doesn't know everything, and neither do you, but you do know some things as well, that she may not know. Ya, sometimes you can't tell them anything.

I've dealed with some!
by: Mollie

I have deal with some crabby riders too! Like once I told this girl since she kept bugging me that MAYBE she could ride the horse that I always ride next week at lessons if I found another horse I wanted to ride. Well I didn't find another horse I wanted to ride and so I had him all tacked up and then she comes and cries her eyes out because I was going to ride him and she made me look like lair, so I got in trouble with my mom and in the end she got to ride him and I had to deal with that for the whole year until she switched riding classes. I have more stories but that was the most annoying one.
