Unforgotten Dreams - Part 1

A girl walked toward me. Her face was nervous, but she also looked like something else. Sad? Hopeful?

She held a handful of grass towards me. I eagerly grabbed at it, but she drew away, dropping the grass and laughing nervously.

" I know, I'm a scaredy cat!" she told me.

The girl walked to the fence, eying me warily, and sat down. She studied me for a while, then started crying.

"Just because of a stupid old gun!" she sobbed.

I walked over to her and nuzzled her. She jumped.

" Sorry old girl!" she said. I soon found out that her grandpa had died. she also told me her name was Jess.

Unforgotten Dreams - Part 2

Dear Diary,

Hi, my name is Reese Collins. I finally started a diary today.

I can't believe what my father did today. He bought me Misti, a Saddlebred mare. How many times do I have to tell them: I HATE HORSES! I don't exactly hate them. I guess I'm a little scared of them. But my parents don't understand. Just because they are horsey doesn't mean that I should be too.

Reese

Dear Diary,
Grandpa died! How much I hate hate hate hate hate hate hate hate guns! His death was too awful to write down. Maybe I'll write it tomorrow.

A week passes without Reese writing in her journal

Dear Diary,

I hiked in the woods today. I found some things and kept them. A stone, because my heart is cold and hard, a feather from a blue jay for Grandpa's blue eyes, and a heart shaped piece of bark that had a crack in it.

Misti whinnied to me. I was surprised. Does she expect me to like her?

This is a fictional story. Don't worry, soon Reese is horse crazy!
