Congratulations - you wrote a story! Not many people can claim to have done that, you know! And this one is a good story, with a satisfying conclusion, and a good ending. Well done! Your writing has improved enormously, and it was good to start with. This is a highly enjoyable story and I liked it.
A few tips: Look at the overall plot structure of a story. It begins with the establishment, where character, setting, and conflict are established. The development comes next (the middle) where the elements of the story are explored, tension is raised, and the characters are tested and developed. Last of all is the fulfillment, which consists of the climax, resolution, and the denouement. The climax is the high point of the action of the story, the final massive conflict, and the resolution is how that conflict is resolved. The denouement is usually just a short piece to show how it happened. (In your story, the climax and resolution is when April gives Angel to the narrator, and the denouement is when her mother comes in to say goodnight). I would have liked to see a bit more climax - some more tension - but it's still got an extremely satisfying ending. Well done!
