Time to Move On
I ran over to the palomino gelding.” Apollo!” I shouted. He raised his head and his ears twitched. I pushed through the vets. Apollo nickered softly to me as I snatched the reins out of a tall man. I took Apollo to his stall and un-tacked him. Tears spilled out of my eyes. It had all happened so suddenly. “Why?!” I sobbed.
Just then I saw mom out of the corner of my eye. She quietly opened the stall door and walked in. As she patted Apollo she told me that we would be going home now. “ The vet said that he might not make it. He really injured his leg!” She pointed to the Palominos front leg. It was soaked with blood and it looked swollen up. “NO!” I screamed my face hot and red. Apollo couldn’t die! He was my best friend. I put Apollo’s halter on and grabbed a lead rope. Apollo, my Mom and I walked solemnly back to the trailer.
