A gentle wind blew as a herd of wild horses drank from a clear stream. A Grey filly, was chasing a blue roan colt around the herd. The Grey one was called ocean, the blue roan, sky.
Years went by and they were still good friends. The leader of the herd, an enormous chestnut stallion beat his front hoof on the ground, and the other animals knew that this meant trouble. They all gathered expecting the worst.
"Milton, step forward" he announced. Milton, though rather large was a shy creature, one of sky and ocean's friends. "You spoke to an animal, not from our herd. You spoke to a young foal, which is forbidden. You will not escape
lightly Milton. Every disobeyed order has a punishment, and this will be no different. You are no longer part of our herd. Say
your goodbyes, and leave my herd."
Milton didn't say goodbye, he just wandered off, his head drooping. "He deserved it, that little squirt!" Laughed one of the horses. "Such an irritating ugly creature, didn't belong in our herd." Ocean turned round to face the horse who had spoken. "Don't you dare say that!" She
snorted angrily. "You don't belong here either, you're just as ugly and just as irritating." He laughed again. As soon as those words left his lips ocean delivered a hard kick at the other
horse (called Flash). She reared and began to attack the other horse and before she knew it Flash was lifeless on the grass.
Ocean knew what would come next, and it did come.
At the end of the meeting it was decided she should have a larger punishment than ever before, and it would be done the next day. The leader of the herd led the whole herd to the top of a mountain. He stopped at an enormous river.
"Ocean, you must drink from this river." He said sternly. Ocean nervously approached the river, and drooped her head down to drink. After the first gulp ocean felt her legs go numb and she
collapsed suddenly before blacking out. When she woke, the herd was still there, looking shocked. They seemed to be staring at her coat. She turned and saw it had turned from a pure grey to an evil black. She looked at her reflection in the water and saw her eyes were a startling red, making her look cruel and evil. Standing up she turned to look at the herd.
"You are no longer a member of this herd. Before you leave, put on this necklace." It was a red silk with small glowing green gems. She walked down the mountain before heading across
some green fields before her. She traveled on for some days, not stopping to rest or even eat for she was not tired, hungry or thirsty, before coming to a small horse. She walked over to meet it but as soon as she touched noses with it, he
dropped dead where he was standing. It was the same everywhere, every horse or animal that she touched just died instantly, so she became meek and shied away from any animals she saw.

One day Ocean came across a herd, and she
recognized it instantly as her herd. She shot like a bullet to them. When she was still a little way off she shouted "its me, Ocean, its me! Don't touch me though I'm cursed!" all of the
horses knew at once and came rushing over, but they seemed to know about her curse and not one horse touched her. She couldn't see the leader anywhere but a friendly looking white
stallion stepped forward and said "I am the leader of this herd, and you I gather, are Ocean."
"how did you know?" Ocean asked, feeling very joyful. "Sky, I understand you two were best friends. Explain to her." Ocean let out a neigh of joy to be reunited with Sky. He of
course shared her joy, before telling her all that had happened since she had left.
She heard how all the horses were so outraged by what he did to her that they killed the leader
of the herd. And soon after found a lone horse wandering by himself. And because of his kindness, knowledge and fairness, they made him the herd leader. Life had been much better
since and after the herd told him about ocean (since he knew how to release her from the curse, and told the herd what the curse did)they had been looking for her.
"Now Ocean, I am sure you would like to be freed from the curse, and I know just what to do" said the herd leader. He took her to a lake with a single white stone near the edge. "put your
left front hoof on the stone" said the herd leader. She did so and the necklace disappeared into thin air. He then told her to walk right into the lake with her eyes shut. When
she came out of the water, her coat was back to grey and her eyes were no longer red, and most importantly...
Her curse was gone.
