Stardust (The Horse That Refused To Die) - Part 1

I lifted my head as my owner, Ashley opened the stall door. She had a purple halter in her hand. She had a bucket of oats in the other hand. She poured the fresh oats into my trough and slipped the halter on my head.

She opened the stall door again and left. She came back with a grooming brush. She walked over to me, saying soothing words to me. She gently placed the grooming brush on my back and rubbed. I enjoyed it. I nickered softly to her. She looked at me with gentle, brown eyes.

After she got done brushing me, she left the stall.

I grabbed a mouthful of fresh oats and chomped on it hungrily. I turned around and looked out a small window that was in my stall. Lightning flashed through the sky. Train pounded on the window as if it wanted to come in. The green, soft, and wet grass gleamed in the moonlight.

My door opened, and something came in. I turned around quickly and reared up. I realized it wasn't anything to hurt me. It was Ashley. She held a bucket full of water. She poured the water into my water trough and left the stall.

I looked out the window again. It stopped raining. It stopped thundering. I laid down and before I knew it, I was fast asleep.

The next day, Ashley snapped a lead rope on my halter and led me out of my stall. When we walked outside, I saw a big white trailer with a sign on the side that said "Angel Light Racing Stables." I wondered why the trailer was here.

Ashley led me to the trailer and asked me to go in. I nickered curiously and took a step in. But I backed off, refusing. A man hopped out of the driver's seat and pushed Ashley, leaving her flying to the ground. I reared up, whinnying furiously. You don't do that to my owner! I reared up again, trying to scare the man away.

The man grabbed my lead rope and tugged me into the trailer. Ashley screamed at the man and pushed him right back. The man turned around, looking at her straight in the eye. The 2 were yelling at each other, trying to see which one would win.

The man pushed Ashley back and pulled me into the trailer. Before I could do anything, I was in the trailer. Ashley looked at with hot, angry tears in her eyes. The man closed the trailer door and hopped in the driver seat. "Hey! What do YOU think you're doing with my horse!" she hollered. The man ignored her and turned the car key. Before Ashley could do anything else, We drove away.

Running like a cheetah, Ashley caught up to us and held the door's handle. She pounded on the window in annoyance. The trailer went faster, and even faster. I screamed and tried to rear up, but the small trailer was too small for me. I just screamed and screamed. I heard Ashley?s voice screaming, "you?d better get him out of there or I will make you!"

The man's trailer got even faster, knocked Ashley to the ground. She laid there, helplessly.

I didn't get it. Why did she ask me into the trailer when she tried to stop him from taking me away? I just didn't get it! I started kicking and bucking until the man opened the door. I screamed and charged after him.

He grabbed my halter and tugged me into a very small pen. It had other horses in it. There was a chestnut, a bay, and a palomino. It was very crowded in there. It was so tight, I could barely breathe!

The chestnut horse struggled to breathe, and so did I. A girl took the bay horse, and led him to a nearby racing gate. She took the palomino and put her in the gate too. She took the chestnut and put him in the gate. At last, she took me and put me in the gate.

People dressed in jeans, long sleeves, riding boots, and Helmets mounted up on us. A bell rung, and the gate opened. I started running. My rider whipped me with his whip, and spurred into my sides with his spurs. This made me go faster than ever! Anyways, I ran so fast that I suddenly collapsed and everything went out of focus. Then everything went black.
