Seabiscuit was born to race but never really learned what it would be like if he was a winner. They trained him to do exactly what he was told to.. he lost. But then a new couple looking for a race horse saw something in him that they thought he would win.

More About This Movie

This movie is based on an inspiring true story from Laura Hillebrand's book of the same name. The story is set in a very difficult time period--The Great Depression. The hopes of a nation are pinned on this underdog horse.

Parts of this story are very sad and some are disturbing. It will take you on an emotional roller coaster.

It may not be appropriate for young girls. It is rated PG-13, and there is nudity, profanity, and some violence. Parents can get more details at the review site Kids-In-Mind.com.

I almost let my 12 yo daughter watch this because of the review here, but then I checked Screenit. I am so glad I did! My husband and I wouldn't even watch this!

I hesitate in posting this somewhat graphic review excerpt, but since so many commenters seem to be endorsing it, I thought I should warn the moms here. Excerpt from Screenit.com:

PROFANITY

At least 10 "s" words, 12 hells, 4 S.O.B.s, 3 craps, 3 d*mns, 6 uses of "G-d*mn," 4 of "Jesus Christ," 2 of "Oh my G*d" and 1 of "Christ's sakes."

SEX/NUDITY (Heavy)

We see women who are presumably hookers in Tijuana as the narrator talks about people going there for "companionship."

Miscellaneous people drink, including some who pour booze into a woman's cleavage and then hold a man upside down so that he can drink from her cleavage as she stands.

We briefly see some people in what looked like their undergarments on the street in a piggyback race (nothing explicit).

We see Johnny and a hooker lying on a bed (apart) talking. She comments that he paid her and then asks, "You wanna, you know, get going?" (have sex). He says yes, we see her lower her lingerie top (we see her bare back and maybe a fleeting, brief glimpse of part of the side of her bare breast) and he stares at her, but we don't see anything happen between them.

Some pin-up drawings on a wall show women in varying degrees of revealing attire (some of which show cleavage).

This movie has some stuff that isn't appropriate for kids. Like some cuss words and "Adult" actions. I recommend it for 13 and up.

I've seen this movie a number of times and it always brings a tear to my eyes. A great family movie with real values.

P.s: My girlfriend thinks we are all a bunch of sooky la la's. What would she know.

I watched it and I loved it and i have this big History project coming up and i didn't know that i loved horses that much and i am doing my whole project on Seabiscuit and Red Pollard. I really loved this movie> :)

Incredible true story about the famous racehorse and the amazing miracles that occurred in people's lives because of his existence. Super inspirational!!

Favorite line in the movie,"YOU DON'T THROW A WHOLE LIFE AWAY JUST CUZ IT'S BANGED UP A LITTLE."

Seabiscuit is my favorite horse movie. He goes through so much pain, and misunderstanding, but he still ends up at the top. :)

 Stunning, not just the theme.

I may be too old for crying when watching movies, but this makes me cry every time. Not that it's too sad but because of their beautiful friendship. And the picture is great, and the actors too. I'm happy that finally there's a big movie about horses, a really good one! All other movies is either very old or made for children.

If you haven't seen this one, you really missed something!

Sorry black beauty, but no body can beat Seabiscuit. I LLLLLLLOOOOOOOOOOOOOVVVVVVVVEEEEEE this movie!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! i get so excited when seabiscuit beats war admiral that i yelled out YES! when my mom was driving because we have the tv in the car and she almost hit another car! if you dont like seabiscuit then you obviously don't have a heart! when seabiscuit turns on "GO" not a living horse a live can beat him, not even spunky 3 year old when hes 7!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! this is a heart warming movie that i love more than the sun and i believe is prefect. he goes through cruelty, injure and still comes out on top. and of course red poulerd played amazingly by toby migure was great. if you haven't seen seabiscuit see it, NOW!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
