Little Black and Big Roan - Part 1

by What they call me
(Milky way)

I am a horse. But not just any horse. A young filly, around the age of three. I still live with my mother. And while the other horses in the paddock find that strange and "flap their lips" as they call it, I laugh at them for having spots. I am pitch black and I am really "Eye Candy" as the humans call it. I am going to a auction this afternoon, that's why my owner is getting the trailer ready.

Sure I will miss my mom, Clair, but at least my new owners will at least name me. Everyone has a name but me, like Bella, Toco, Candy, Mighty, Tori, Sara,... the list could go on forever. If I could name myself, I would name me, Black. Well you might find that strange but a lot of horses in the other paddock have their coat color as names like Snip, Dapple, Bay Girl, Mousey Grey, and then there is Ron The Roan. Ron is really "protective". And trust me, don't ever go near him. He is coming to the auction too.

Well, I now I have to fit in that cramped trailer, but at least these friendly men will help me. I hate to admit it, but I have never been in a trailer before. Okay, so I put this foot in there, and then... WOAH!!!! This is wobbly!!! I'm scared!!! Oh no, they shut the big door! Help me!!! I'm scared! Okay, calm down, all the other horses can do this, so I can too. Calm... Down... okay. WOAH!!! Why are we moving??? I looked beside me, and Ron The Roan was there.

He was huge, and scary. He was a Mustang and I was only a little Arabian. He was 15, and I was 3. He was 16.3 hands, and I was 14.2. He is 1400 pounds, and I am only a skinny little thing, about 900 pounds. With a lot of courage, I looked up at him and asked him if he liked the trailer. He looked shocked. He gently replied, "Yes, it is really fun to move without running." Now I was shocked. He talked to me without getting mad? Maybe all this bad stuff about him was just a cruel rumor. Maybe he has never talked to anyone for years.

Little Black and the Big Roan - Part 2

by What They Call Me
(Milky Way Galaxy)

First read part 1 or part 2 wont make any sense.
If you already read part 1, then you are ready to go! Also read Lost Trust.

I looked up at him again. I asked him why everyone thought he was big, mean, and scary. He said it was because a long time ago, when he was first born, his father and mother were over protective and defended Ronny.

Whenever someone came close, they were risking their life for a foal, so they sold his mom and dad. Everyone thought he was a bully like his parents, so they spread a huge rumor. Ron looked the other way like he didn't want to make eye contact. Then he said "I wish I were you." How can a huge mustang like Ron be so sensitive? Finally, they stopped at the auctions. It was HUGE!!! So many horses, so many people, and so many bidders!

It felt like forever, but finally, a man pulled me up onto a huge podium for the crowd to see. I said goodbye to Ron as the first Bidder yelled, "1000$!" Thoughts whirled through my head. Am I really worth that much? Then I heard the next bidder yell, "2000$"! I was amazed that people like me that much! Then someone from the back screamed, "3000$!"

Wow, these bidders could go on forever I thought when the next person hollered, "10000$" Going once, Going Twice,... "15000$!" Once, Twice, Sold!!!!!

I couldn't believe it! I have just been sold!

Next, Ron stepped onto the large podium.
The first bidder was the buyer of me.
"1000$!"

Once, twice, Sold! Ron had been sold to the same owner as me?

Then we found out he was a farrier.

What the adventures we will have together!

Little Black and the Big Roan - Part 3

by What they call me
(Milky way Galaxy)

First read part 2.

The farrier that won the auction of me and Ron paid the man that helped me into the trailer. He told me his name, Mr. Bentson, and then loaded us into a huge spacious trailer. There were 2 other horses in the trailer that he bid on. One was a bay welsh pony just a little smaller than me, and then there was a donkey. The donkey looked strange.

Then we started moving again. It was a really smooth ride. I asked the pony her name. Bell she said. Then I asked the donkey his name. Donkey, he replied. Perfect name for a donkey.

It was a long ride, but finally we stopped at a small house with a tiny barn behind it. First Mr. Bentson led Ron out, then Bell, then, me, but he left donkey behind. He dragged us into the small barn. It was dark and cold until then he opened the windows and switched on the lights. Inside the barn there was 3 stalls. He shoved me into the first one, Ron into the second, and Bell into the third. What about donkey?

Then he pushed a wheelbarrow inside the barn. It was full of hay! He dumped chunks into each of our stalls, and then went to the little house. A few hours later, he came back with 3 pieces of wood. On each of the was painted a name. Ronny Roan, Tinker Bell, and Little Black.

He named me Little Black! I was so happy to finally have a name. But what about donkey??? He could be in trouble! What did Mr. Bentson do with him?

Little Black and the Big Roan - Part 4

by What They call me
(Milky way Galaxy)

I called out to donkey to see if he could hear me. What will I do now? Oh, look! It's Mr. Bentson! What is he carrying? Oh, no! It looks like, a... fork? He probably just had lunch.

Woah, I was worried, but I still want to know where donkey is. Maybe he didn't have any space in the barn for him. Wait, he is holding the fork out to me? I guess I'll just nudge it with my nose... ouch!!! Its pointy! I think right now I am afraid of forks. Why is he laughing? And, Who is behind him?

A little girl? No, donkey! I whinnied to him. He saw me! He saw me! I asked him what Mr. Bentson did to him. He said, "Nothing, but everyone is suspicious." "Everyone???

I replied. Who is, everyone?" Floppy, Lola, and Glad, Ron's old Donkey friends. Mr. Bentson took them with him? I didn't see them in the trailer. Ron sure is a interesting horse. Donkey told me that there is a donkey house behind the barn. I shouldn't worry. There is also a paddock there. Mr. Bentson should take us there.
