I am SOOOOO glad for you!! You did it, girl, you have GUTS! And cantering about on the pony you fell off! Congratulations! Bravo! BRAVO! Plenty of people have totally given up after falls or even just scares, but you worked through it, you did it! You can give yourself a huge pat on the back. Now the important thing is to keep going. Stay in the saddle, keep riding, be ambitious, but always be humble, safe, and ready to help other riders out. And of course know that you're going to fall again. But you've picked yourself up this time, and next time you fall, it will be a whole lot easier. Riding is a wonderful, dangerous, glorious, uplifting, amazing sport, and I am so glad that you have chosen to keep on with it.

Keep riding! And stay brave!

I think its your choice, you can either take the risk or not take. well, take it step by step like first ride with someone next to you and than you can ride again how you used to. I hope this helped.

Hi Savannah

First of all, so glad you're at least trying to get back into riding. Too many people give up after realizing it hurts. You're not. You've made the first step - you've decided to keep on. Well done!

I would definitely recommend professional help - from a riding instructor. They know best, they've been there, done that, got the concussion, they'll be able to help you out. I suggest you go and see an instructor you trust who knows what they're doing, and take baby steps at first. Tackle it one little bite at a time. I have confidence issues at well (with specific horses, i. e. the ones that give me concussion), and I cope with it simply by trying to exclude any thought from my mind and just focusing on the next step. The next step might simply be taking up the reins and putting one foot in the stirrup. That's not so hard - or at least not when you're thinking, "I've gotta take up the reins and put a foot in the stirrup and then I've gotta get ON and then I've gotta RIDE!!" Just think, "Reins, stirrup." Nothing scary about that simple movement if you don't think about getting on and riding.

Talking helps. Really, it does. Don't try to be brave and bottle it all up inside you. Being brave means doing the right - and often the hardest - thing. The hardest thing is to tack. Be brave. Talk. Don't gulp it down, because then it builds up pressure and blows up. Talk to your instructor. Tell them you're nervous. A good instructor won't make you MORE nervous, even if it feels that way. A good instructor will push you, but they're there to help you.
Most of all, don't give up. Stick to it. Maybe you shouldn't get back onto the pony that you fell off, at first - later on, yes - take a nice quiet pony that you trust. Riding is ALL about this massive bond of trust. You trust the horse to keep you on top, the horse trusts you not to hurt it while you're up there. Naturally, you keep thinking you're going to fall off. Naturally, the horse keeps thinking you're a lion. You both have to trust each other. As the one in charge, you, the rider, have to trust the horse before the horse can really, truly trust you. Once you trust the horse completely... well, the sky's the limit.

Keep going, girl. You can do this!

Scary!
by: jakiebabe

That's really scary!!

My advice is get back on!Just do it don't think about it just do it.What you can do is tell your mom or dad or whoever you live with that you REALLY want to start riding again, go on a trail ride and take your time getting in the horse.Tell you guardian to assign a date that is anonymous to you and just tell you to get in the car.Make sure they pack boots and a helmet.Don't let them tell you where we are going and they can even blindfold you! Once you get there they can tell you what they did and just get on or you never will again.

I know this isn't as half bad but about 2 years ago I was riding this horse, he is REALLY good in the arena but when we went on a trail he acted up.We were walking fine and then when the horse in front started to trot my horse,Snoopy, started to gallop in a circle. Then the next time we started to trot he galloped straight forward, I was so scared I almost fell.I was really scared and wanted to get off but I didn't and I'm never going to ride him again. Now I ride a horse name Jake and I trust him TONS.You need to find a horse you trust really well, because I'm not afraid of anything on him.I used to ride a horse named Mickey, well this other girl had rode him once and when I went to get home him she said"Be careful on the trail her bucked when I kicked him."I was totally scared! Well I saw Jake buck another girl who wanted to try him out and I got right back on him.I go to this camp and EVERYONE there says we are perfect for each other.I want to try out another horse and all but I can't pull myself to bear to not ride him!

I understand, Just let it take time. This is one thing you can do, if your scared, start back in a round pin, or get someone to lead you around...

Don't worry
by: Kassi

I have been riding the same horse for the last 4 years. 2 years ago he decided to buck me off and I landed on a tree stump. I bruised my tailbone so badly that I couldn't ride for 4 months.

As soon as my doctor gave me the OK I literally walked out of the doctor's office, got in my moms car and went and rode my horse. I've fallen off and broken my arm, leg, hand, and my foot. Don't worry!

If you don't gt back on soon your horse will learn that it scares you and they'll continue to do it...If you fall off always get right back on unless you're seriously injured!
