Galloping and thundering, swift, through my dreams;
hoof-beats -- hoof-beats, known to my heart,
Made by horses, dream horses I love,
Oh, but if they were real, I thought!

Someday -- one day, I know they'll be real,
a spirited chestnut I'll be riding astride;
together, we'll make hoof-beats resound upon the hills,
Oh! Just loving and living to ride!

A horse is a dancer;
Graceful and tall
Holds you in spirit
Together, one and all

A horse is an artist
Different, bright and bold
Showing you choices
You never knew you had

A horse is a athlete
Muscular and strong
Tries hard and if he fails
Will not give up, and tries again

A horse is a champion
Brave, strong and true
Realizes potential, loves,
and never gives up on you.

A horse is something that cannot be named
For it is too perfect, to bright to be tamed
Hold it close and cherish it
Lest one day you realize that you never knew

It was so amazing, so perfect and good
And then your life has lost it
The horse is not yours.
So hold it carefully, this precious jewel

And one day you'll finally know
If it wasn't for it you'd long be below

A triumphant whinny piercing the air
Hooves pounding against the desert glare
Hearts of gold spirits like the stars
Bolder than brass brighter than mars

Many coats, every color
Paints and chestnuts
Blacks and duns
Going together a herd as one

The powerful stallion
The tough lead mare
The growing colts
The sprouting fillies

The one thing they show me
More than anything else
Is to have power and be free
And when trouble comes your heart is key

Forever Free (a poem)

Stallion leaps, a shrieking cry
Fills the air and makes her cry
Lasso whirls, flies through the wind
Over his head to get him pinned

He bucks and whinnies, snorts and leaps
With each new terror, the girl weeps
The stallion fights, unbroken, unbended
His wild life is still not ended.

The girl is crying, full of anger
At these men who call themselves wranglers
She yells and shouts and shakes her fist
And puts them down on her hate list.

But no such anger helps the stallion,
His head hangs low, the silver medallion
That he deserves is still not gone
The wild stallion sings his song.

Over the desert, the sagebrush, sky
The stallion shouts his war cry
A mighty leap and burst of speed
The pain and fear he pays no heed.

The girl is smiling, waving, happy
No longer feels just quite so crappy
She waves goodbye to her stallion dear
And watches the trail of dust slowly clear.

She turns around and now heads homeward
The stallion is wild, will never be lured
By a life of restriction; forever will he
Live in the desert, forever free.

Wishing for thee
I'm horse crazy as I'll ever be

I love to ride
I love being by their side
I wish I could have my own
I feel like I'm not moving anywhere
It's almost like a stone

Dreams come true when I'm near them
As I fly across grassy prairies
As we reach for the stars
They will never be far

Friends forever
Never apart
Maybe in distance
But never at heart

My heartbeat quickened
I saw a majestic horse
His coat was jet black

I was astonished
As I was told he was mine
Best friends forever
Always together.

I clutch the reins, excitement running through
I grin a grin of excitement and stroke your fuzzy neck
We start off at the walk slow for sure
But none of that matters the first time on your back

Each time I ride I progress a little more
From first time trotting to first two-point
But I enjoy every second of it and that's the exact point

From trotting without stirrups and reins of a kind
To that first rolling canter
On that lunge line
From green ribbons to blue
I don't care about the color as long as I'm with you

Our bond has become so strong and true
I will love you forever and ever for we are best friends forever

Today, I went to the barn for my lesson and heard Peppy had pulled up lame a few days ago. It's only a bruise and some inflammation but it really got me thinking. Yes, I'm a little worried because he's my best friend but it got me thinking about what I would do if he ever went permanently lame or passed on. I spent so much time with him today just talking to him, giving him little carrots and keeping him company. I love him so much!

I don't want to say goodbye
If you left me I wouldn't know what to do
You have helped me in every way possible
You've taught me love, courage and strength

When my heart is broken you're there right next to me
With a nudge or a nuzzle to calm my tears
You turn my frown into a big smile
