Hay Elfruler,

I'm a Christian too and I love horses so much! One of my favorite breeds are Friesians and so many others! For my birthday my mom got me blaze and young rider magazines. One of my favorite verses is Psalms 100:1 Make a joyful noise unto the Lord all ye lands.

I don't have a horse but I wish I had one, my mom is getting me horse lessons and I can't wait. I've had experience with horses before and completely love them so I can't wait! For my birthday my mom and I have a special tradition we do she takes me and we go trail riding. Anyways just want to share.

Hiya!
by: ElfRuler

Hi! First off, I love how you said we could share Bible verses. (I'm a Christian)

Second, I might jump around a bit subject wise. (Sorry)

My family is planning for a horse! We're going to set up a paddock and lean-to and if we don't get one this year we'll hopefully get one next. This will be my first time owning a horse so any tips are welcome.

One of my favorite Bible verses.

John 3:16-17
For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten son, that whoever believes in Him shall not perish but have eternal life. For God did not send His son into the world to condemn the world but the save the word from sin.

Hope all you girls have a great week!

by: Anonymous

Hiii, I love horses! I am going to be taking lessons this summer at a ranch and OMG I AM SO EXCITED!!! I've loved horses for about 4 years and still love them to the moon and back! I have always wanted to own a horse, my dream horse is a Splash White chestnut.

I've watched the first two seasons of the saddle club, but refusing to watch season 3. As I don't really love the new actors.

I collet schleich and breyer horses! For schleich I have about 35 horses! I only have 3 traditional breyers and 2 classics/freedom series ( few stablemates too! ). I've sadly only had one friend who loved horses almost as much as I do. I'm excited to meet some more horsecrazy girls like me on here!

This site looks awesome! Hey if you haven’t read, Paint the Wind which is an horsesome book, then get it now. I don’t even ride western, but this was still amazing. An other book suggestion: FOR HORSE CRAZY GIRLS ONLY. It’s awesome. Also, a great horse online game: Horseridingtales. Pretty amazing. You can tame wild horses and name them then, craft riding tack and ride. It’s a multi player game and you can chat and enter shows. Also I wanna share that once I won a 1rst place ribbon in a show. I ride english and can canter over oxers.

First, me and my mum went to a free horse show that kids competed in and I was so sad that I started crying but my mum said that if I showed responsibility I could do horse riding lessons and so now I am learning to showjump!

hello
by: Quarter horse lover 365

Hi! I am sure all of you do love horses a lot and my favorite breed is a Quarter horse that has been my favorite breed for 4 years. Since my favorite horse Dexter moved away it was really sad, I worked for the lady that owned him and would always spend like 20 extra minutes in his stall because he was so sweet but he was pretty young around 7. I miss him so much.

But anyway on to something happier, my favorite scripture from the Bible is Psalms 46:10, "Be still and know that I am God", because whenever I am upset I know that God will help me through it if I pray and ask him. That is all.

Howdy people! I can't believe how long it has been since I have posted here :O.. months!! you are probably wondering what I have been up to?.... Well, I've been writing a story, it's called Spitfire: My Untold Story, though I'm sure you are all to busy to actually be able to read it... you can find it at Webnovel and also Wattpad, some of you might like it, and some... well I'm not going there!...

Other than that, life has been pretty good, minus my stupid lungs and having asthma attacks it's totally cool! I'm been painting more now that life has calmed down, but not painting a horse though :( mostly elk.. and I actually painted my first ever portrait inspired by the book I am writing.....

Let's just say if you have some serious time on your hands, I'd recommend checking my novel out on either site, Webnovel or Wattpad..... it is Qualified as Mature, so please ask your parents first unless you are over 15+.

Hi Ellie,

I am looking for a friend too.

Right now I am struggling to convince my mom to let me get horse ridding lessons but I think I may be able to help you. Show your mom that you are responsible. Help out with some chores around the house. You can also show her in your school work that you understand how to take care of a horse and have the ability.

Also look up sites where you would co-own the horse. Do research. Show her that you really want this. Let me know if it works. And if you don't mind I have a problem myself. I am home-schooled and I am behind a bit they say it's normal but my mom says if I don't catch up she won't let me have lessons. But she has been saying she would get me lessons before we started home school so I am thinking she may not come through, when I catch up.

What do I do? I am so sick because I miss horses. I started almost imagining that horses are walking down my street. I even started drawing them I miss them so much let me know if you have any ideas. And let me know if you would like to be my friend. Please respond I would really like a friend.

Your horse crazy friend,

I love to read books about them, look at pictures of them, and most of all, ride them. Right know, I don't have a horse although I wish I did it has been my dream forever.

I saw some of you like watching movies about horses. I just watched a TV show about horses and thought you guys may like it. It is called Free Rein. It's on Netflix. It's a fun TV show, check it out.

For my birthday every year, I get to choose where I want to go for my birthday. I always choose to go horseback riding. I have not been able to gallop yet but can't wait!

God bless you all! Psalms 100:1-3

what your horse feels
by: the true horseman

The Horse's Prayer

- I'm only a horse, dear Master, but my heart is warm and true.
I'm ready to work my hardest, for the pleasure of pleasing you.

Good corn, hay and water, are all that I wish to ask.
And a warm dry bed to rest on, when I've finished my daily task.

Don't strike me in needless anger, if I'm slow to understand,
but encourage my drooping spirits with a gentle voice and hand.

Finally, O my master! When my health and strength are gone -
When I'm getting old and feeble, and my long life's work is done -

Don't sell me to cruel or strange owners, to be slaved to my last breath,
But grant me the untold blessing of a quick and painless death;

That, as you have always found me a patient and loyal friend,
The years of my faithful service may be crowned by a peaceful end.

I plead in the name of the Savior, Who cares when the sparrows fall.
Who was born in a lowly stable, and knows, and loves us all!

Your Faithful and loving friend,

The Horse

For the Anonymous who asked about bending
by: Annelise

I’d try some tight figure eights or pole bends. Slide your outside leg forward a little and your inside leg back a little. Picture arcing him into a circle and bend your body too. Keep your outside rein relaxed but taut and your inside rein a little shorter so his nose is tipped in. You can also follow the rail at a walk , turn a circle in the corner, and come out of it at a trot. Slow back down to a walk and repeat at the next corner. Do lots of quick changes of direction at the trot and canter. If you can lunge him, try freelunging him in a smallish (50-60 foot) round pen and ask him to change direction frequently. Hope it helps and let me know if you see this!!

Any one have any tips on how big a small paddock should be for a horse too stay in during the night?

She would be taken out to pasture everyday and be ridden too but just at night she will stay in a shed. The shed is open and lets her go out in a small pen that is about 15 feet wide and and then it comes up by 10 feet. Is that too small?

She is height of about,14.5 hh-15 hh

Hey Willow :)
by: Aspen...

Ok so drawing eyes are very difficult, it's all about getting the right amount of shadows and lights in the correct areas, i TBH love eyes, human, animal it dont matter, i always look forward to drawing eyes, If your drawing from a reference, try to look for the tiny details, if the horse has a little brown in his/her eyes, dont be afraid to add it, drawing in graphite is WAY!!!!

Easier your working with Black and White, so it's pretty simple, Drawing in color is a another story but dont get discouraged, we all must start somewhere :) ... i encourage you, to pick out an awesome horse picture (Maybe a up close on his/hers face)

And practice on drawing eyes, of course dont be forgetful about the other parts of the drawing (That sometimes happens to me lol ) I hope the small hints i gave you will help, I'm following, and please let me Know how it turns out !!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Is 14 too old?
by: Horse crazy teen

Hey everyone,

Is 14 too late to start horse riding lessons?

Since I was around 8 I have been totally horse-mad! I often go to my two best friends with horses to ride, but I know I have a lot to learn horse-wise. I'm not a complete beginner either and know basic things like horse colours, the paces, and horse breeds. Soon I am moving into a new house where there are horses across the road and we have a big grassy paddock with 2 cows. I'm hoping to eventually get a horse as I have been saving up for a long time. Behind us there is a place that gives horse-riding lessons and if I get them soon, I'm wondering if it too late for me to start?

I originally wanted to be in the Olympics, but I think maybe I was a bit over my head when I thought of that goal. Now I'm thinking I'd just like to compete up to my best and run a horse stable. I feel isolated from the equine world and I'm wondering if this will last forever.

HELP MEH
by: MAC

"Do you give the horse its strength or clothe its neck with a flowing mane? Do you make it leap like a locust, striking terror with its proud snorting? It paws fiercely, rejoicing in its strength and charges into the fray. It laughs at fear, afraid of nothing; it does not shy away from the sword. The quiver rattles against its side, along with the flashing spear and lance. In frenzied excitement it eats up the ground; it cannot stand still when the trumpet sounds. Job 39:19-24

I'm a Christian and I LOVE horses. I've been riding for about two years now and have just started jumping verticals. Any tips on how to keep your legs still? And on how not to be super anxious when jumping? And how do you get over a horse that was sold? Because I've tried, but every time I see her I just want to cry. I can't ride her or anything. But I'm planning to ask her new owner if I can ride her for my birthday. On the plus side, she still lives at our barn, she's being boarded there. But i have a feeling her new owner doesn't like me very much. She was always pretty mean to me. (Her owner was always mean to me) The horses name is Thalia (pronounced: Tal-e-uh)

Thanks!

Note I am back on Nugget, who I realize now as I am back on him how much I love riding him and I think I have a bad habit of falling in love with too many horses but If I had to choose a horse to ride I think Nugget would be my one and only. And so I'm having a bit of trouble with bending him and I can apply inside leg fine but I feel like I'm messing up with the reins of something. So any tips?

First, you should get your horse with treats. When he/she comes, give him/her a reward. Keep doing that as often as you can. Soon your horse will learn that he/she will get rewarded for coming to you, so he/she will come to you every time you go out.

Hope this helps!

AAAAAHHH
by: Sally

Okay, so I just really had to share this as it's really exciting for me and I don't really have many people to share it with but I have finally ridden a horse that is a match with me! I love all the horses I have ridden but even my trainer said that she thought we were a good match and that hasn't been said about me and any other horse before. His name is Pippin and he's about maybe 14.6 - 15 hh and he is my trainers' horse. She does not know his age and breed as he is a rescue and she hasn't had the time or money to do the tests. He's a chestnut gelding with a white stripe down his face. When I rode him it was the best thing I've ever done. He fully jumped a trot pole at a canter! That was the first time I've ever been on a horse that jumped trot poles and I felt like flying. I cantered on him and he was the fastest horse I've ever been on and my trainer said that she's galloped him and he's been able to keep up with racehorses! He is a fully trained dressage horse and mostly trained jumper. I love him so much! I sadly only get to see him every other week but that will change in the new year and hopefully, once I have my driver's license. I know that was a giant mouthful but I just really needed to share that!

The horse took me over a jump and went out of control... The trainer was not suprised because she couldn't make the horse behave either.... Thanks for your comment.

I'm sticking with the cautious teacher. :)

The trainer that teaches you more is always the better option. Before you worry about competitions, you need to know a lot or something might go wrong.

You and your horse may not be ready for competitions, a cautious trainer thinks about you and your horses safety. I do know how fun it is to go to competitions though, maybe you can find out how the other trainer finds competitions and when you are ready for them, you can find some.

Hi everyone... So I really need help here!!!

So I have this one trainer that is really nice and stuff, but she's really cautious. Like SUPER cautious. And she can't get me into competitions.

Then I have a second trainer that's really rude, but she can get me into competitions and give me more freedom. But I feel the first trainer teaches me more.

I don't know who to go to! Any suggestions will help.

Hey, so I was thinking about the horses you said were neglected maybe try calling a veterinarian clinic, or look online and see if there are any horse rescue centers near you and call them if not I'd call an animal shelter. There's usually at least one shelter in an area that could take horses.
Hope this helps!

You need to first, tell your parents and get their opinion on the situation. Second, report this to animal control or the animal police. They'll give the owner a warning, and depending on how bad the situation is, confiscate the horses and put them in an animal shelter and up for adoption.

About the abused horses you saw.

First, about the pasture, I personally didn't know pastures had to be "cleaned" :P

Second, about the skinny horse, something could have recently happened to him where he lost a bunch of weight, or he's very hard to keep weight on. For example, my mare is quite hard to keep weight on, and in the winter her ribs will show, even with lots of hay and grain.

Third, about the stalls, maybe they just hadn't mucked out yet that day?

Don't jump to any conclusions yet, ask around, see if this is a recurring problem.

Good luck, I sure hope nothing really is wrong! :)

Abused Horses. Help!
by: Anonymous

So I was driving by this stable on my way to a friends house and these two horses were grazing in the pasture.

First of all, the pasture was really dirty, it looked like it hadn't been cleaned in a while.

Second, one of the horses was super skinny you could see his ribs.

Third, I went and peeked in the stalls they were a mess! The horses are neglected what should I do?

I cried when I wrote this since I'm so worried about her. . . she means a lot to me
by: Sally

Okay, so there's this horse I started riding in lessons about 3-4 weeks ago named Reyna and she's already taught me so much even though I've only ridden her a few times and I've grown to love her a lot.

At my lesson on Monday, she was acting really grumpy as I tacked her up she had always been pretty Sassy and everything but this was kinda different. When I finally started riding her her whole gait was off sure her trot was bumpy and usually we have to tell her to slow down not speed up but this time we did. When we were still trotting she had tripped a couple of times already but nothing to bad then she tripped over a cone that I'd missed when I was directing her and she tripped pretty bad. She didn't fall but she did start limping really bad. When I got off of her and they moved her into a walk to see what leg it was she was still limping but not as bad so I'm just wondering what happened.

So note she is 20 but I'm not sure that it's just old age. But so I was wondering if you guys have any ideas on what happened?

No way is that poem bad, Josh! Your poem is great! I really like it. This is one I wrote although it's not horse-related...

We must prepare to fight
Against the oncoming night
The old and the youth
Must fight to uphold the truth

For darkness will lead you astray
But light will heal you and ask you to stay.
The light will always get you through
It will always hold to what's true

The Lord knows my every care
He knows when I feel ensnared
He knows what happens tomorrow
He is the one I will follow

The gloom I am looking through
To when I go beyond the blue
And in the midst of sunlight
I will meet Him dressed in white

I know this isn't horse related but it's still a good poem in my opinion.

poems… ahem awkward…they suck
by: Josh

just a random poem i wrote…

The sun is setting on the sea
Gentle waves lap at the shore
A refreshing breeze stirs hanging leaves
Beauty I've not seen before

Behind me in the expanse of sand
No track of footprints lie
But rather hoofprints down the beach
It's just my horse and I

Then I get to thinkin'
About the past few years
And how I never saw the world like this
From between two soft alert ears

And I guess I never thought of it
Or stopped to realize
The simple beauty resting
In just my horse's eyes

and another one... sort of part 2 on the first poem

I didn't appreciate at first
The treasure that was so great
I'm lucky I finally did
So many realize too late

There's so much joy in the simple things
More than accomplishing a great deed
And the smallest things in nature
Outweigh riches acquired by greed

So did you do the good you could today
Or let it slip on by?
It can never be recalled
Gone into the western sky.

there you go...sorry so long and rambling. I just quickly slapped the lines down in like 10 minutes. I'm a terrible poet lol.

Possible solution
by: Anonymous

Hi Claudia,

I'm writing about your break from the saddle.

First off, I understand your struggle here and since you can't ride (and like Haddie said) you could stay in shape for riding. Late last year I wasn't able to ride for months. But through that time I kept my fitness up and did some of the following stretches and I was in shape (and maybe better than before) from doing stretches and exercises.

Look at these links:

https://www.wikihow.com/Get-Into-Shape-for-Horseback-Riding

https://www.horseandrideruk.com/expert-advice/articles/exercises-and-stretches-especially-for-horse-riders/

Google core strength exercises if you want, it is very important for all riders, competing or not.

I hope this helps and I think Haddie's comment is great as well (nice one Haddie!) and I hope you will find a solution to the current problem.

I get it; time and money are why I don't ride often even though I'd love to. Is it possible that you could go to a camp with horses next year? One idea is to contact some nearby stables and see if you could work at the barn in exchange for lessons, or a discount. Or get a different job to help pay for lessons. Petsitting, babysitting, dogwalking? Are there any horse rescues or therapeutic riding centers near you? If so, maybe you could volunteer there; you probably wouldn't get to ride but at least you could be around horses! You could also ask if you could shadow/volunteer for an equine vet, a farrier, or even a horse owner. Hope this helped!

Hey Claudia, I'm sorry this is so late but I hope I can still help you! I'm so sorry you had to stop lessons and that people have been treating you badly.

A few ideas:
You may have already done this, but perhaps you could talk to some of the people that are gossiping and tell them the truth about why you're not riding, etc. Probably they'd understand even if they don't say so.

Is there any way you could work or volunteer at a stable or a riding center for the disabled (or even for a private horse owner, or equine vet, or farrier...)? That would show people that you're not losing interest, and maybe you might get to ride some in exchange for working.

Could you visit your horse and maybe groom him/her?

I used to (ok, still do sometimes!) climb a tree, straddle a branch, and pretend to ride...you could do something like that and at least practice your position! You could also look up some non-mounted exercises to strengthen the muscles used in riding, to hopefully be stronger if you get to ride again. Or learn by reading about horses and riding, and watching riding videos or horse shows. But you certainly don't have to have perfect skills to enjoy riding, if you get the chance to. And I would imagine that much of what you've learned would come back to you easily your first time back in the saddle.

You're not alone...time and money are why I don't ride more than a few times a year tops. Sometimes, I'll see a horse from a distance or in a photo or video and get the I-miss-horses-so-much feeling.

I don't really know how you could get this girl to stop spreading rumors. (One idea...maybe she's hurting somehow and is taking it out on you? Not that that means it's not wrong.) But I'll be praying for you.

Hope I helped a little even if it's just letting you know I care.

HELP!
by: Anonymous

I LLLLOOOOVVVEEE horses but I need help. There aren't a lot of cheap stables near me and my family doesn't have enough time sometimes to drive me to my lesson.

I used to go to a horse camp each summer for three years but this year my parents are sending me to an older camp without horses.

Camp costs a lot each year so it restricts my riding budget. I wish I could do more lessons because I'm fourteen, probably the most horse crazy girl in my neighborhood and I've only cantered 4 times and that was at camp.

Any Suggestions?

Help!
by: claudiahorselovr

Hiii girlies xxx I haven't been on here in ages, missed it so much! I need ya'all's help though.

I've been riding for years and about 3 months ago I had to stop because we couldn't afford it. I miss it so much, and I feel like i'm going to be a terrible rider once I'm back.

Plus everyone is gossiping about me, saying I'm quitting and losing interest and a girl at my stables, who is basically the stable mean girl, had a crush on my boyfriend and was jealous and angry when we started going out. She's spreading rumours about me and my horse, and saying I stole him from her, and knew I liked him and still went out with him, which I had no idea she liked him, but now she's out to get me.

I miss my lessons, and my horse, and she's spreading rumours about me. I dont know how to make her stop, and how to get money for lessons again :(

I need help with finding a movie!
by: Hoofbeats

Hello everyone!

I was recently was talking to a friend about horse movies. We both remember watching one about a girl who finds a black horse in the wild. She gains his trust and takes a little boy out to see him. The boy takes a picture of the stallion but he gets scared and runs off. So the girl believes she has lost the stallion's trust. But then the father is working in the barn when a beam falls on his leg and (somehow) the stallion helps them.

I absolutely adored this movie but (as I said) I forgot/don't know the title.

Does anyone have any idea of what the movie may be called? Any help is appreciated!

Hello!

Not sure the question was for me, but I ride Western. I would love to learn to ride English as well, though, because riding both disciplines will increase your skills as a rider. I would recommend diving into English with all you've got, because it'll be a lovely learning experience!

Good luck. :D

5 Ways to Make The Most Out of Your Knowledge on Horses
by: Hoofbeats

Hey horse girls,

For this week of blogging, I wanted to write about horse knowledge. Yes, Yes. I can already hear you saying, "What on earth does Hoofbeats want to tell us about Horse Knowledge?!?"

If I was talking about Knowledge of Horses, I would have a completely different title. Simple.

Though, I am not writing to increase your knowledge (if anything it will be in the examples I point out) but about your point of view toward it.

And finally, I am not writing for myself because I would have literally nothing to say about me. I really am penning a blog post concerning your horse knowledge and not letting it go stale.

Noticed that I used the word STALE? Well that’s the point. So keep on reading... Here is a "short" list on making the most out of your horsey knowledge and putting it to good use.

#1Don’t Be The Selfish Sponge. I’ve heard many people in my life say, "If you don’t squeeze the water out of a sponge, it’s going to grow stale and moldy. So we should pass on –squeeze out- our knowledge to other people to it won’t get stale.

I know that I am not the only one who can spend hours pouring over horse books and instructional riding manuals that I’ve already gone over 100 times but still get a ton of stuff out of it. When that happened, I would soak up as much horse info as my brain capacity would allow but after that, I wouldn't pass it on to anybody. I was like a sponge who didn’t gets its water squeezed out. I still remember that I was selfish about ‘giving away’ my horse knowledge. I didn’t want other people to get ‘better’ than me.

Long story cut short, I lacked humility.

But now I know that it is SO much more rewarding to pass on your horse knowledge than selfishly keeping it to oneself. And it’s obvious that I’ve changed (otherwise I wouldn’t be writing this post! Ha Ha!).

So before I make this point too long, I encourage you to pass on your horsey knowledge to other people (you will be glad you did) and that’s where my next point comes in.

#2 Passing on our Horse Knowledge On to Others. I will only touch briefly on this one so we can get a move on.

Above I talked about how important it is to pass our horse genius to others. Well in this point, I’m talking about an experience of my own.

I have a pen pal -who I’ve only met once in my life- and we stay in contact via e-mail or snail mail. Anyway, once I told her about my horse and that his coat colour was flea bitten grey. Her reply was like, "What is Flea /bitten Grey???"

I actually smiled at the question and dashed off an answer. I don’t think she’s ever liked horses or even ridden one but when I talked about what seemed so complicated to the non-horse-person’s mind, I created a sense of curiosity around her. Finally she became intrigued enough and to ask me about it. Therefore, it all resulted in me being able to pass on a bit of my horse genius.

My point is that people around you probably have questions about this unique animal and you just have to create enough curiosity in them so they have the guts to ask you for the simple answer. Too hard for someone like you??? Read on!

#3 Exercising Your Horse Knowledge. It may seem that I’m jumping to a whole new subject but to me it’s like hoping to a new category in this blog post’s subject.

Exercising you knowledge about horses may seem a little absurd but it’s not. Really.

Take the athlete as an example (what better one is there to use than the horse, after all they are involved in a sport). If a horse doesn’t get ridden in a while, they will lose their suppleness and will not be able to cope with it's normal workload. That's until they become fitter. And that’s exactly the same as your horse knowledge. If you don’t keep on refreshing it, reading more about it, and passing it on it will obviously be not up to scratch.

That’s why, if we don’t want to look dumb on social media or in front of our nonhorsey friends -when talking about horses- we need to keep our horse facts up to date and fresh in our minds.

#4 What Happens If You DON’T Exercise Your Horse Knowledge? Sometime ago, my family and I were out driving. During that time, we drove past a spelling complex for horses. My mum turned around from the front passenger seat and asked me what ‘spelling’ was.

I stared at the sign which proclaimed the name of the complex as we drove past. Meanwhile my brain search system was hunting through all of my ‘horse knowledge files’ as fast as you can say ‘noodles’. But before I could do anything more, another passenger in the car said, "It means that the horse is out to pasture to rest for a while."

I was gombsmacked. I had no idea that he would have known considering he was the most unhorsiest person in the entire world. And yet he showed me what happens when we DON’T exercise our horsey knowledge.

#5 How to Exercise you Horse Genius. Now I’ve finally come to my fifth and final point (thanks for hanging in there!)
Below is a short list on how to keep your horse knowledge up to date and top notch.

- Read books related to the topic
- Find a blog where people ask questions concerning horses (like this amazing site!)
- You should be able to find quizzes about horses via the internet
- And (my favourtie) share your info on a blog post like this one (if you have absolutely NO clue on how to write a blog post, feel free to ask me in the comments section and this link is worth a millions dollars to beginner and experienced bloggers alike.)

http://hannahheath-writer.blogspot.com.au/2018/02/how-to-write-blog-post-when-you-have-zero-time.html

I hope you guys enjoyed this post. And as I said above, if you have any questions about horses or writing please leave a comment.

If you have any interesting points to add to my short list, feel free to tell me in a comment (if you do it would be helpful if you would title the comment as ‘To Add To The List’ Thanks!)

Just a final note, if you enjoyed this article, your feedback for each one is greatly appreciated!

Horse 'n' Rider Chat
by: hoofbeats

Hey horse girls,

I'm excited to announce that I will try to post on here about once a week! I'm so glad that people are actually using this page! Thanks to you all! Please enjoy the article below and comments would be greatly appreciated.

This week's post is...

A Loyal Companion

Since I started riding -over half a decade ago- I have seen many bonds between horse and rider. In fact, I have bonded with a bunch of horses myself.

Despite the fact that I've only been riding for a few years, I know that there are two types of riders.

Type number one are the people who ride their horses in shows for the applause at the end. Which also includes praise and potentially glory. But type number two -like me- are the riders who care about their horses, who bond with them, and who know they're beasts on four legs not machines on powering a money-making scheme.

Horses know when they're treated like a cog in a money-making horse stable, or when they're treated like a loyal companion. They know who will be their human friend or their most hated. And will be loyal to that person who shows that they want to be a friend by their side.

And those horses are going to love that human until the last beat of their faithful hearts. Isn't that such an amazing love?

Have you ever heard the quote, "Every horse should at least once in their lives be loved by a little girl"?

I certainly don't consider myself a little girl but I still believe what this quote says and try to be that human who is someone who can be trusted.

I aim for whenever I climb on my horse's back, to make a difference, to farther is on in our bond.

This post is not just about me. It's about you and the next time you climb into the saddle. Next time don't just sit there and expect your mount to do everything you ask it to. No. Love your mount for who he is. Show him that you will still love him even if he may not be the prettiest. That horse will love you back for what you did. Trust me, it's happened before.

Let's be the riders that thank their horses for doing what they did during the ride, even if it was the worst one you ever had. It's bound to make you a better rider, trust me.

When I look back on all those seemingly horrible lessons I've had, I now realize that they've formed me as an equestrian. In fact I thank God for all those difficult horses because they have made me the rider I am today.

So with that all said, let's be the humans these horse need, even if you'll never see them again. Lets thank them for being who they are. Let's appreciate that they even let us sit on their backs. And most of all, let's be their faithful friends because they will be our loyal companions standing by our side.

Thanks guys for reading. Comments are greatly appreciated and if you want me to write an article about something concerning horses (or in some cases writing) I will be more than happy to consider it. If you do want me to please suggest a topic in the comments below.

Thanks again!

Authors Note: As some of you may know, I am a writer as well as a rider and if you have any questions concerning both topics please leave a comment and I'll get to it as soon as possible!

I'm really sorry about Reese. I sympathize with you....My Leo, a lesson horse, was sold soon after I met him. I'd only ridden him once, but I loved him and it was hard to not know where he was. It must be much harder with a horse you're so bonded with, and that you thought you were going to own.
When I was sad about Leo, God comforted me and showed me that he knew where "my" horse was even though I didn't, and was taking care of him. Praying you'll be comforted too. And I hope you do get to visit Reese sometimes.

I feel your pain. I had to leave my boy Warlock behind at the beginning of this year. But the change of horse brought new possibilities and recently on my new regular lesson horse, I won a showjumping class, something I had never dreamed of.

My new boy and I understand each other so well and with God with us, we are an even better team. I knew I couldn't have won that Showjumping class without God's help.

The night before, I asked God if he could at least let me get a third place ribbon for that class, but he knew the desire of my heart and showed me that he will help me to accomplish anything.

My point in writing this is that you will be able to progress on a new level with your new lesson horse. And if you leave all problems to God, everything will fall into place.

Moving on and letting go
by: Heartbeat for horses

Hey guys! I have some huge news and I thought I would share it on here.

So as some of y'all know I've been riding Peppy for almost 3 years. Well, we've gotten to the point where he just wasn't teaching me anything anymore. My trainer hadn't mentioned anything until yesterday. So basically I will not be riding Peppy much anymore. I may occasionally have a lesson on him but it will be very rarely.

It breaks my heart to let go but I know if I want to progress in my riding I need to say goodbye. So that's the rather awful news but here's the news that makes me jump for joy. I am moving on to riding Riley.

Riley is a 16.2 Hand OTTB gelding. He is super spirited and jumps super high. So I will now be riding him and showing him in event shows next year! I'm so incredibly excited. I'm going to miss Peppy but I really love Riley and its time to move on. But I'm never going to forget about my little Peppy. I still get to spend time with him since I'm a working student!

Thank you for being the biggest impact on my life Peppy. I love you and I'm going to miss you with every bit of my heart. I love you so, so much. Thank you!

-----

Quote by Kasey Key

The difference between moving on and letting go

Letting go...

Do you know what that is?

It's watching someone leave you
It's letting them move on
Watching them love another

Moving on, now that is something very different
Moving on is getting over them
Moving on is allowing yourself to love another...

-----

Moving on from you my dear

It hurts me to say this
It breaks my heart in two
Even though I'm letting go
Just know I'll always love you

Just know you were good to me
That you always tried so hard
That I can't thank you enough
For getting me so far

Just know I'll never forget you
and your lovely eyes
That lit sparks inside me
My love for you never dies

I'm going to miss you dearly
Because I love you that much
But its time to move on from this
Just know I love you more than words can say
But here you can't stay

Goodbye, Peppy!

Moving on really hurts but I still get to see him! Thank you for teaching me so much Peppy... I love you with every beat of my heart.

I miss you with every single beat of my heart
It kills me slowly to be apart

I miss your deep brown eyes
And the way the sunshine lit up your face
I miss all the little things
I never thought that they would mean everything to me

I miss the way you greet me when I came to the pasture
I miss when you would nose me to get your treats
I miss when I asked you to slow down you would only go faster

I miss our long hours in the sunset, just enjoying ourselves
I miss jumping three feet in the cross-country field
I miss when we would get last place in the show
Our when we would win blue somehow

I miss you more with every second that goes by
I think about you and the times flies
I remember our happy times
And everything is alright

My lease horse was recently sold and it broke my heart. We had an unreal connection and it broke my heart to see him go. The hardest part was my parents had just agreed the night before he left, to buy him. He was my everything. He lives 2 hours away so I might be able to visit him sometimes. I miss you Reese!

Light of my life
by: MyhorseRylee

"He's not worth your time."
"He's stubborn."
"He's worthless."

These words are nothing new to me. These people just sit there telling me these things about my best friend. They really have the guts to tell me the light of my life is worthless. He may be worthless to them but he is the most worthy thing in my life.

He is my ride or die,my partner,my one safe place. He makes me cry of laughter when I think I'll never smile again. He makes me who I am and I can tell anything. He listens when no one else will, he understands me in a way that is almost surreal. I love him more than life itself. Thank you for being my best friend Rylee.
