Hope and Faith

I walked around, pulling at the bit. "Not now Star." my jockey, Lilli Burke, scolded me. I rolled my eyes and trotted into the gate.
"All horses are in the gates." the announcer called.

"Get ready, GO!!" he yelled into the mic.
The gates swished open and all the horses, including me, bolted out of the gate. "Starlight Shimmering is in the lead, followed by Kite and Wind and Jay Will." He called. I was in the lead by 2 feet when it happened. I fell. I was galloping smoothly next to Jay Will when his rider pushed us and made me lose my balance. I toppled over and slammed into the ground. I saw Lilli fly over the fence when everything went dark. I was surrounded by blackness. I was all alone. Or so I thought I was.......

Hope And Faith Part 2

Sorry I haven't been on in a while ;)]

I woke up to screaming sirens. I neighed softly and tried to get up, but collapsed because of a sharp pain in my leg. Vets surrounded me.

"It's ok, boy." I heard one of the vets soothe. I was put into a trailer and was given a stiff plaster cast on my right foreleg. "He's stablised. Just give him rest for about 6 months. Then you can give him these...........Then go back to normal. Star's fairly young, Leigh. Have faith."

I guess I was going to be ok. Suddenly I remembered Lilli. I started to swing my head back and forth, screaming. Then I saw her, limping, but it was her! I nickered and whinnied over and over. She smiled and rushed up to me. "Hey, pretty boy," Lilli murmured, stroking my face, "How are you?" I quickly ate the carrot she had given me. I nugded her and she laughed and hugged my neck, stroking it.

"Winter Star." Lilli whispered my name and turned to my owner. "Leigh," Lilli hesitated, then went on.
"Leigh, I will give you 10k, in cash, to be Star's half owner." The silence that followed was defining. I tossed my head. Well? Would she?
