Check into 4H in your area. I was surprised to discover that you can join horse 4H without a horse, or at least you could in Michigan. You'll get some hands-on experience and you'll meet new friends that share your love of horses. You might even find someone willing to let you use their horse.

Check into 4-H. I enrolled my niece a few years ago and discovered that you did not need to own a horse to belong to 4-H. You'll learn a lot for the day when you do get a horse and you may meet someone willing to let you ride theirs!

wow!! u are one lucky person!!
by: Alexis

oh my gosh. u are so lucky to have a horse. when i was younger, i always begged for a horse and my parents would say NO... now i'm older and still dream for a horse. but my parents also say "we cant afford one" and "we don't have anywhere to put one, i'm sorry"...

they would usually say that we don't have anywhere to put one, because we live in the country, but that's where you would usually have farm animals... but my landlord has 2 horses!! and a whole bunch of cows and calves... so he basically owns a farm, right next to us... a made my dad ask my landlord if we could own a horse here. he said "no", and i personally think it is not fair because he has horses of his own. but when i get older i'm gonna raise a lot of money and buy a horse and everything for it. ( i hope i'm not bragging, but i know about horses cuz i used to study books and all about them.) oh i forgot to mention... i took horse riding lessons, only 3 at the same place and that's the only horse riding lessons i ever had. you can take care of horses, tack them up, halter them and lead and lunge them, it's really fun!! hopefully i can save money and have my very own barn... or if i still live where i do now, i can board a horse.

but you are so lucky to have a horse!! i want one so bad... hopefully my dream comes true, one day!!

Hi Kristie

Thanks again for sharing - you really can write and it's such a lovely story. I can sympathise with the vaulting-on-bareback - my six-foot instructor hops onto my ponies effortlessly, but I'm a full foot shorter and it's not so easy for me. :-)
