Riding Lessons: Bristol's Heart Farm
by A horsecrazy rider
I ride a horse named Ginger at BHF. All the horses and ponies there are rescued from abuse and neglect, and are taught that not all humans are bad.
I remember the first time I rode her, I was so scared because the would start trotting when I didn't want her to, and once through me off. But now whenever i go to get her from the pasture she runs up to the gate to greet me, and i always give her an apple or treat for her great behavior.
Now I can trot or canter on her bareback without worrying that I will fall (because she has a very sleek and slippery coat), because I know she will catch me.
