Fireball, the Horse with a Heart of Gold

by Abbi

Abbi woke up. It was Tuesday. Today she would visit Fireball. She jumped out of bed, found her way into a shirt and wriggled into her jeans.
She sneaked an apple and crept out the front door. After forever, she got to the barn.

As she turned on the lights, all the horses nickered. She passed stall to stall.

"Hi Dakota!" she said to a paint, while he munched a carrot.

"Hi Lela!"

"Howdy Stanley!"

"Say, hi Fireba-" Abbi gasped. There were whip marks on his side.

"Wha- what happened boy? Who could of done this to a horse like you?" He just nickered.

"Cmon Fire. Want to ride?" She asked as he graciously accepted the apple.

Hi Abbi

Cool story! I like "As she turned on the lights, all the horses nickered..." I can nearly see the horses' bright eyes and smell the hay.
You could spruce the first sentences up a little bit to make them even stronger. A little detail goes a long way - try something like "Abby woke up on Tuesday morning when the sun was just peeking over the eastern hills..." Just as an example - I'm sure you can come up with something much better.
All in all, awesome story! I can't wait to see what happens to Fireball and who whipped him!
