Wanting to know more

Hey, this website is great for me to do whats right for me to train my horse. Im 13 and i look after a welsh pony who used to bite but since he has been gelded he seems to be fine,

But i was wondering if you could teach welsh ponies to jump over logs. And also can you ride welsh ponies. He's a white welsh pony, is just above 1 meter tall and has 2 sisters. He will be 3 in September this year. I really want to do more with him this year and get him well trained. thanks

To me any horse or pony can do anything you want it to do. I start riding the young horses at age two. All I do is light ridding. I work on making them soft in the mouth light trail rides. Despooking them is a MUST. As far as jumping you dont want to jump him untill he is five. You want to make sure his knees are fully grown. At 5yrs old horses or ponies are fully grown. You can start him on the ground. lunge him over small logs don't push him to go over high ones. Don't over do it. When he does it right let him have a rest.

hi,
you can train him to jump logs. one thing when he is three you can start light riding and jumping short jumps. and when he trys biting tap his nose firm not to hard and tell him no! hope this helps.

one thing you can ride a welsh pony. when he is three you can start training and light riding. yes, you can train him to jump logs. welsh ponies are excellent at jumping. hope this helps you.
