Why I like horses
by: Anonymous

I love horses because they are just soooo majestic and strong. They have always made me feel like I can do anything. I first started last liking horses when I read the book Black Beauty but before that I always had a secret admiration of horses. But that love really sunk in when I read Black Beauty.

Horses changed my life
by: Sophia

The first time I went to a barn I fell in love with a horse named Annie and it changed my life. Horses are what I think about all the time now because they make me incredibly happy. I’m always thinking about how I can improve my riding and I know I will own a horse someday. Since I first rode we have moved and changed barns but my love for Annie and all horses remains. ♥️🐎

Why I'm Horse crazy!
by: Harlee

Hi, I'm Harlee and I love all animals but there are some that I love most, and horses are some of them. My family doesn’t have a big enough yard so that makes me want one even more. I am going to have riding lessons, my friend Sydney will teach me. Well, most of the gaits and jumping. I want to barrel race when I am older.

Love your famly work super hard live your passion
by: Horse/pony lover

Why am I horsecrazy? There's something about the outside of a horse that is good for the soul. When I look at horses it feels like I can conquer anything, but at the same time it's peaceful.

From the time I was little and knew what horses were, I loved them. This site is awesome! I know how it feels to want a horse and never get one. It's sad. When I was younger, I dreamed I got a horse then I woke up and it wasn't true. I was so horse broke.

I love horse quotes and anything to do with horses. Stay away from a horse long enough and you’ll start tapping your fingers to the beat of a trot.

How I became horsecrazy, and my journey with horses.
by: Bailey The Horse Lover

I don't really know when my love for horses started, but it really blossomed when I was 8. About that time, my sister and I got western lessons. We were thrilled! I remember riding around on my stick horse, trying to practice 😆! Those lessons were fun, but they were expensive, and the horses were mostly slow and old, and didn't like to move around. I wouldn't blame them though, since the riding stable made the same horses do several lessons a day, in an outdoor arena, even in the summer!
Then, the riding stable moved locations, and there was no longer any close riding stables that were an option for my family at that time. So from when I was about 9-10, lessons stopped. I read almost all of the horse books in the libraries in our area, and I was always in need of more books, more books! I sucked up horse knowledge like a sponge, and would spend hours with a horse breed book in my lap.
About that time, my aunt, who lived several hours away on a farm, purchased two little mini ponies from someone who didn't take care of them, and they fattened up VERY quickly. Salt, one of them, was extremely sassy, and also very green, since he had not been handled in a long time. Since the ponies were so small, my mom was fine letting me and my sister work with them, since they could hardly hurt us if they tried.
I remember one day, I was trying to pick up Salt's hoof, and he was NOT having it! I kind of got frustrated, and just grabbed it. Then he bit me. I remember sitting in the yard, holding his lead rope, crying something like this: Why doesn't it happen in real life how it happens in books? Why wont he trust and love me, and I can make him into a perfect horse that I can ride off into the sunset with! In the books, the horses are always perfect!!!!!
That was the day when I figured out that horses aren't perfect, and you really have to put in work to train them! That day didn't break my passion for horses, it grew it! I loved that stinkin' pony with all of my heart, and I wouldn't quit trying!
Shortly after that, an opportunity opened up for my sister and I to help out at a stable, in exchange for english riding lessons. That was wonderful! We learned so much, and got to practice riding in a different discipline. We learned a ton of essential horse skills like stall cleaning, turning out horses, and the best job ever, FILLING WATER BUCKETS! It's real fun doing a 12 stall barn with a garden hose 😂!
Then, Covid 19 hit. Oof. We had to stop everything! It was so sad!
Then, the same aunt that had the ponies, purchased a foal and two very broke horses! The things we did with those horses, they were very patient with our craziness!
Then, in 2022, my sister and I were able to get private western lessons from someone who works at the same place as our dad. Those were great lessons! I got to ride a horse named Skipper, who was awesome! The only thing with him, was that if I would ask him-no allow him to canter, he would get so excited that he would buck! But the bucks were just little happy bucks, so I was not in danger. He was awesome!
Now, I am super excited to say, that I finally have a horse! His name is Scout, and his full story is way too long to post on here, so I will give a short narration: My cousins moved to an acreage just outside of the town that I live in, and purchased horses. We also purchased Scout, and we board him there. Unfortunately, one of their horses, Ember, started beating up on Scout, and bit and kicked him a ton. Ember was sold back to her previous owner, and life went on. We didn't ride Scout for the next few weeks, so that he could heal from the bites. But we noticed he was different. When we did finally ride him, it was not good. He bucked a ton, and started to kick when you would try to mount him. He was even almost too much to handle for my mom, who has worked with horses almost all of her life. We tried a bunch of different things, but he was only getting worse. We decided to get him some chiropractic adjustments, and if that didn't work, we would have to sell him 😭. But when we he got his first adjustment, the chiropractor said that he had 5 ribs out of place, and something out in his neck! Ember probably had kicked him or something. We felt really bad, even though we had had no idea! But now, after another adjustment, and a new saddle, he is doing amazing! We ride him in a hackamore, and he is a big love bug! He is awesome, since all you have to do to get him to trot or lope is loosen your reins and kiss! That boi could run all day! I just love him so much! He has come so far! Thank the Lord! We prayed so much for him, and even though, at times, it seemed like hope was lost, we made it!
One more thing: If any of you are wondering this: "If I get a horse, wont I just get bored of it after awhile?" DON'T WORRY! Horsecrazyness just gets more intense! All I want to do now is be at the barn, even if it's just to scoop manure!
If any of you are feeling discouraged about a horse, or feeling like you can't do something, press on and pray! God will help you, and even if the outcome isn't what you expected, trust that it is the best for you, and whatever's happening will grow you, somehow, and make you a better person!

Thanks y'all for letting me ramble! I could talk all day! I love this website!!! Everyone hug your horses for me! Or air-hug your imaginary horse! Whatever😁! BYE!

I've always wanted a horse. I asked for one every Christmas, birthday and every week. I never got one. My nana owned a horse farm then sold it. I was so mad at myself. Why couldn't I have liked horses when she had the farm? Anyways, my parents signed me up for riding lessons and I always go out to visit my nana's horses.

I love horses
by: Abigail

Hi,

I love horses so much and I completely agree with you Zuhaira. My family doesn't really love horses. My mom has been supportive of me though, but unfortunately I didn't get a chance to take lessons but my mom would take me trail riding for my birthday so that is always fun. Don't listen to people who tell you girls can't ride, or their not supportive of you riding. The only thing that really matters is you and your horse. I don't own a horse. I finally have lessons at a barn, and the horse I ride I would love to think she's mine, because no one really rides her but me. I don't have any friends, so I really lean on my horse and we have really bonded. My sisters don't love horses, my older sister is a city girl, and my younger sister likes animals but not like i do. So if you or any other horse girls don't have friends and would like to have a horse crazy friend, I would love to chat.

Your horse crazy friend, Abigail

Hi
by: Zuhaira

Growing up, I used to take horse riding lessons, but I didn't take it so seriously.

When I was in Grade 1, the owner of the farm moved away and three years later, the owner's sister came to run her farm. We (me, my sisters, and my cousins) started horse riding lessons again. Then after riding for like a year there, I met one very special horse named Action.

The first time I saw him, his face was swollen, but he looked so beautiful. He was a 10-year-old thoroughbred racehorse, which had heart problems.

The first time I rode him (July 04, 2020), I finally understood so many things. Everything felt perfect. It was like the whole world was in a billion pieces and everything came together. Also, I was struggling with my trot at that time, but when I rode him I was perfect. He made me realize who I truly am. When I was with him I felt like I was the luckiest girl on the planet.

Sadly, he almost died a few times, but he fought, but the last time he wasn't strong enough. The last time I saw him I told him that I would see him again, but I didn't. The day I found out that he passed on, was the saddest day of my life. I wish he was mine.💖 I miss you, buddy!

Sometimes, people ask me why I ride. I tell them: I ride to feel free. I ride to escape reality. I ride because I love it. And no, those are not the only reasons, when I look at my horse, I see a best friend but most of all I see myself. When I ride, it is a feeling I cannot explain. It is the only place where I truly am myself. Horse riding is not only about riding. It is having a connection with the animal itself.

Unfortunately, my family is not a horse family, so it is very difficult for me, meaning, I can't talk to any one of them about horses, except my sisters. My eldest sister is like a city girl, which loves horse riding. My middle sister is like a girl who loves horses more than my eldest sister, but I love horses the most. I always will.

My grandmother says horse riding is not for girls, and if my grandmother says that, my mother will most likely agree with her.

For all of those girls who want to stop riding because they are too busy, or their parents are not supportive, or they have any other problems, please don't give up!

Your horsegirl friend,
Zuhaira

Why I am a horsecrazygirl
by: WinnieTheHorseGentler

I never really cared about horses a whole lot when I was younger. That was before I got to ride! My grandmother had four horses; two percherons, one quarter horse, and a miniature horse named Chilipepper. She would hitch Chili to a cart and ride me and my siblings around the yard. When we stayed over with her, she would take us out to the barn to feed and groom the horses. It especially helped that she had a mini horse because the big horses were a little scary at that age!

I am a horsecrazygirl because I LOVE horses! If I could have anything in the world it would be a horse. I love horse riding more than anything else and I think that these things are what makes me a horse-crazy girl. :)

A Place To Belong
by: UnicornsAreQueerHorses

I guess you could say that horses saved me. Quarantine was in full swing, and horses were the thing that kept me afloat, kept me hopeful. Everything I know about horses was learned during quarantine, though I gave lived turn my entire life because of my breaks who owns three horses. I am proud to say that I am also lesbian and genderfluid, meaning that my gender changes from day to day. Being queer can be hard, but it also comes with an immediate family. I don't want to be a show rider, not even and instructor. I want to be a worker. I have worked in 5 different barns, willingly and without pay over the course of 2020-2021. My family was moving around, so I kept having to change barns, but that didn't stop me from trying to learn everytime. Now I love in Denver, CO. I don't like Denver, I miss the city were I grew up, Seattle, and I that I can finally find a place to belong, somewhere where I can be so three parts of myself. I will always love horses, and I will always be queer. I want to be a social media influencer, queer activist, or groom at a horse barn. People out there will hate to for who you are, but don't let them tell to anything. Bring yourself is beautiful. Don't let them shut you up. 🏳️‍🌈🐎💗💜💙

Horse crazy
by: Madi

I had always liked horses but when I was about 7 years old we had this friend at church who was a photographer and owned I think 4 horses. She had a calendar that she made every year with her horses and she wanted me to be in one of the pictures. She put a unicorn horn on one of her horses and that horses name was Star. I think he was gelding and he was white. I think he was like 20 years old? Anyway I had a white dress on and a red cap (like little red riding hood) and took some pictures. I was holding a little lantern and riding a unicorn. That was the first time I rode a horse. And that was the day I actually fell in love with them. I don't own one yet but I an to be a horse back riding instructor. I now take lessons in Alaska twice a week for 1 and 1/2 hours each day.

The reason I love horses is because they are so graceful and kind. And when some people say horse back isn’t a sport, I freak out and explain that you don’t just sit on a horse and do nothing, you have to work to get to where you are no matter what age. And that is why I love horses!

how I became horse crazy!
by: Abigail

Hi, I am Abigail.

Abigail is just my pen name but one of my favorite names ever. When I was younger, my mom named me after her father's grandmother. She still loved the name Abigail so she named the very first doll she ever gave me. I also call her Abby for short sometimes.

Anyways It was getting close to halloween, and our grandparents live close to this fun pumpkin patch. I was about 9, and I liked horses and thought they were pretty but they weren't my favorite animal. But that year I saw the most beautiful and kind horse. She was very gentle, but if someone was hurting her rider she would fight. And her name was Abby. She was very kind and loved me and when i talked to her she looked like she understood what I was saying.

I found myself expecting her to talk back. I love her even today. I try and see her as much as I can. But I can't drive or have a car, so I do the best I can. That's when I started to be horse crazy. If I couldn't be around them I started learning everything I could about them. How to be a better rider, what are good breeds, and so much more. When I started riding I was more than a natural. They kept asking if this was my first time. They were so surprised. I am so horse crazy. When I first started loving horses, my family thought I would grow out of it. My mom believes me, or so she says.

Hope you all have a good day. God bless you all.

Also since then I have collected tons of horse book, and they fill up at least 2 shelves of my book shelf. I was also able to do horse back riding for a bit, which obviously made my days. Because of COVID-19 I haven't been able too, however, I am really excited for the summer because I get to go horseback riding at least 2-3 times this summer!

Even though I have fallen off a horse before, I am not afraid of them.

So I can't exactly remember what age I fell in love with horses, but it was a pretty young age. My parents had planned to buy me a miniature pony, but it didn't work out. After that, as I got older anytime there was horse rides available, I was always asking to ride!!! To top things off, anytime there is a horse near a fence line, I always ask my dad to stop the car so I can pet it. Most of the time he does!!!

Just last month I met my dads friend and turns out she owns 3 horses 2 Thoroughbred 1 Tennessee walking horse and ever since I wanted to be a rancher. Now My dad and step mom will be moving to a more open area and promised to get me 2 pigmy goats. Why I am a horse crazy girl
by: Lillian

Why am I horse crazy girl? Well I just fell in love with horses! My mom knows that it is not just a phase and that it is a legit thing. She buys me schleich and breyer every chance that she gets to! I just love horses! My sister asks me why and I told her that Horses are just what I am obsessed with (she was obsessed with dogs!). Sshe told me that horses can't come in your house or curl up in your bed with you. This is all true and all is what I told her but horses don't turn, you can ride them, and my mom told my sister that that is just who I am. One of my mom's favorite sayings is... "If you teach your child to love horses then they will never have the money to buy drugs"... which is true!

When I was around 2 I started to LOVE horses. I started to ask fo horse toys and what not, for my 4th birth day I had my first time riding a horse, and I LOOOVVVEEED it! So I went back. At first I rode a horse called Bess and she was amazing for starters. But as I got better and better I moved on....

This is when I met Ojjit! hE IS MY 16 year old boy and he is a welsh pony. He is like my best friend and at first I only rode him but when I got to know him more I got to take him to his pastures after lessons, untack him, feed him. Sadly, because of COVID I can't see him but I have many photos and will never forget him.

Always Horse Crazy
by: HorseyGirlInTheCity

I have always loved horses. I can sometimes ride my grandma's horse, Cheerio. My cousin, Ellie shows cheerio western and English. I like to ride both English and Western. I am horse crazy because I would sit and watch a horse show all day, but can't even sit through a soccer game. I am horse crazy because I would muck out stalls for nothing, but my room is a big mess!

I am horse crazy because I would do anything to have a horse of my own, but I can't have one because we can't afford it. I am horse crazy because, sometimes, horses are much better friends than humans. I LOVE HORSES...THEY ARE AMAZING!

Thanks, Sydney! I LOVE this website so much, it is AMAZING!!!

My sister and I went for a riding marathon at a riding camp. There were a lot of people. Well I got separated from my sister and the person in front of me got off her horse when she was not supposed to. We were on a steep hill more like a cliff. I had to lead a group of people to the rest of the group. I pointed my horse in one direction but he wanted to go a different way. In the end I let him have his way, had I not we would have gone over the .I have learnt to always listen to my horse if I do I know that he or she will take care of me.

Horse momma
by: Samantha

I've always been a horse crazy girl. I was given my first pony at a young age by my grandfather. She was a beautiful Golden Palomino. Her name was sandy. She passed away when I was about 11-ish.

After her, I always wanted another Golden Palomino. Several years pass I grew up into an adult still having the empty spot in my heart wanting a horse of my own.

Reading horse books watching rodeos, wanting a barrel race (and never letting my dreams go) with that being said I got with a true cowboy a little over 3 years ago. He has a mustang (something I would only dream of riding) named Montana.

Now Montana is a 20 year old gelding that in his mind is a 2 year old stud. But to get back to the story. My boyfriend told me I was not able to ride him until I got more experience since its been years since I rode let alone never a mustang. Let's just say in less then 6 months I was riding Montana and now Montana is both my boyfriend's and my horse.

And in March I was offered for free a 13 to 14 year old Golden Palomino. And let me tell you he is not the horse we were told he was but I now wake up every morning to looking out and seeing I have my own horse. And a name change to Trigger.

Looking back, waiting was the best thing because I prize Trigger so much. And being round my boys (yes I claim them as my children) has taught me that you need to expect the unexpected and no two are alike. And they act just like children when you have multiples and different ages.

Just a word of advice to girls out there with no horse or pony and has dreams of owning one or competing on one, don't give up. Your day is coming. Even if it's when your an adult and on an older horse. Don't give up.

I turn 32 December 25, and my boyfriend is helping me to train to barrel race next year on Montana and he is going to be 21 by the time I barrel race. I know I'm not going to win, I'm just going go out there and do our best and have my head held high because I'm doing it for me and Montana, no one else. I made Montana a promise and I am going to keep it to him.

For you young girls never give up. Your day will come. It took me many, many, many years dreaming and never giving up and now my dream is coming true. You believe it will happen one day, it will come true. Keep your head held high and keep believing and hold your dream close. It will come true one day.

How quarantine changed my life
by: Sierra

I have always been an ice skater. I never thought I would do two sports or even have anything to do with horses. I had never loved them, I mean yeah I liked them as an animal but I had never done any research on them. I didn't even know the difference between a mare and a gelding.

During lock-down the rink was closed. I had nothing to do other than sit in front of a computer and check my emails.

One day I went on a hike with my friend. We talked about sports and she mentioned how her friend did horseback riding. We started chatting about that and how much fun it would be to ride. I had no intention of riding.

Out of boredom, I browsed on the internet for riding stables near me. I found a nice stable where one of my friends went. I decided to try a lesson, if I didn't like it I could stop.

So I went to my first riding lesson where I met a stunning bay mare, full Arabian. She was gentle, calm, and easy to work with. I spent an hour at the barn riding and learning about horses. I loved riding so much I began riding two times a week. Slowly I learned the basics. My coach told me I was a natural, which boosted my spirits higher. I learned posting trot, cantering, and galloping. Slowly I got more involved.

I started a blog on everything horse. I got really into blogging and got a lot of comments on some posts. I met equestrians on social media who were horse crazy like me. I started volunteering at rescue shelters that needed it.

And here I am now, a horse crazy girl who loves nothing more than riding. I still do ice skating and love it, but nothing can compare to the feeling of the wind on my back with a gorgeous animal underneath me. I think it is safe to say that as terrible as lock down was, it has changed my life.

I love horseback riding so much and will never stop. I hope to have my own horse in the future with my own ranch and I hope to be an equine vet. Horses are my life now and I wouldn't change a thing.

What Horses Mean to Me
by: Whinny-Pig

I know there are a couple horse girl pages on here that have "horseless" horse girls who just don't own a horse. I am and I am not that type of girl. True, I don't own a horse, but I don't ride regularly either. I rode [ONCE] in my lifetime two years ago, and I haven't been back up on a horse since. I just can't afford to ride. I don't have a lot of "hands on" experience with horses, but that doesn't stop me from being horse crazy! I have been horse crazy since I was eight. I have LOTS of Breyer models, mostly Stablemates, but I have started collecting the Classics/Freedom Series (don't know why they changed the name; Classics is a lot easier to say and type over and over). I have special names and personalities for all of them, and I love coming up with pedigrees. I plan on being an Equine Vet when I grow up, in the Neonatal and Reproductive field so I can help bring foals into the world! I LOVE writing horse stories, and I am always scribbling ideas away in notebooks. I don't have a favorite breed, but if I had to choose they would be Pryor Mountain Mustangs, Brumbies, Quarter Horses, Arabs, Thoroughbreds, Spotted Drafts, HAFLINGERS!!!!, Fjord Horses, Kiger Mustangs, Prezwalski (ignore the spelling, it's Sha-Vaul-Ski), and Abaco Barbs. I have lots of horse books, and have read almost all of the library's horse books that don't have stuff I already know (e.g. Books for five year olds about horses) Every spring I follow a live website called Foal Patrol where you can follow racehorse mares and watch them have their foals and raise them. It's really great, and there are tons to learn! Each mare has their own blog and webcam, so you can follow them as they raise their foals. I am writing a horse book that I hope to publish sometime next year. I love games like Petz Horses 2, My Horse, and Horse Haven. Horses make me feel calm, and they have such a variety of personalities! No only are they smart, quirky, and powerful, they are also beautiful to watch! Outside of horses, I have a guinea pig, which is why my username is Whinny Pig- a person who loves horses and guinea pigs!
I guess that's all! Thanks for reading!

Girls best friend
by: Hawk

I love horses so much and when I talk to friends and family about it they all think it's a little bit over the top. To finally find a group of girls that understand and feel the same way is the best!

I am horse crazy because of my sister Meghan, she taught me to draw horses when I was little and we sold our art and saved money for our own two ponies. We had them for four years. We paid for them ourselves and were proud of it. Ever since then I have been horse crazy!

Now I am looking for a new horse from horse haven, a spotted saddlebred named Tech but I will rename him Rudy. There are many more reasons why but, I think this is enough for now.

%100 HORSE CRAZY!!!
by: SaddleSeatBestRiderLila

Ok, I was interested in horses, but never really knew we could ACTUALLY RIDE THEM!! Aha, my little sister was really horse crazy, and got my sisters and I into riding, I was the only one in my family who actually rode all my lessons every two days, my sisters still claim themselves "Horse Girls" but they always say they are tired and try to get out of riding. I was not really serious and just went because I was forced to go, but I then invited my Best Friend (Olivia), then invited her neighbor(Ava), and then I invited my other Best Friend(Alli), and and Alli is the type of person is too scared to move up, always wants to get off ASAP, and mainly is the "Horse Girl" and not the actual Equestrian. So then I got REALLY serious about riding and have rode for about 8 years!

Also I do Saddle Seat! doing my 23rd A-Cuircut Show This Year! Also I live In SARATOGA NEW YORK, I do ALOT of shows in, Fonda, Coblleskill, and Skaghticoke. Maybe I will See SomeOne?! I ride at a SUPER AWESOME stable on scout road called Rolling Oaks Morgans and I ride Morgans, they do all seats! *No Jumping or Dressy*

Well it all stared four years ago. When I saw how fun, beautiful, kind, and different horses are. I love them. I stared riding at the us pony club. I ride a thoroughbred named dusty. I live in a large family and me going to take care getting away from the craziness. Makes me want to thank them. Well that's why I'm a horse crazy girl.

I am horse crazy because I dreamed since I was little that I had a horse called Starfire and have training lessons because my friend did. Now that I live in France in the countryside, there is a lot more choice between horses. The horses I prefer in the stories of Tilly's pony Tails are Magic spirit, Rosie, Lucky Chance and Moonshadow because they are all very beautiful shades of skin and they are my kind of horse. FEA
by: Sally

Hey, so basically I figured I'd post about the stable I started riding at about 2 months ago. I knew little bit about riding before I went there like how to trot, post, diagonals but this was all in a western saddle. So as I said I started riding at a new stable... Feather Equestrian Academy. I absolutely love it there.

It's not that I didn't like the other stable it's just that at FEA I feel so much more in sync with the horses and they actually let you help out with the horses instead of just coming tacking up, riding and untacking.

My new instructor is amazing and though she's very straightforward you can tell every time you see her around the horses she loves her job. The first month I was there they put me on Cody since he was the best horse to work on trotting and starting two point for me at least. Note that I started riding English at FEA and I have never loved riding more especially when I started doing two point, trotting overy trot poles. (If you haven't guessed yet I'll tell ya why I really want to learn to jump;))

Now about four weeks ago I was put on Reyna. Don't get me wrong I love Cody but Reyna holds my heart as well now (probably all the horses do actually ;)) well anyways they put me on Reyna since she's the best horse to start cantering on. I haven't been able to do much cantering yet due to her having tweaked her back a week before I rode her and being stiff after the fact. But my last lesson Reyna was being really stiff and grumpy. She kept tripping and one time she tripped badly and started limping. I ended up doing ground work with another horse, Nugget, but I was really worried about Reyna. I actually just got word from a friend at the stable on Saturday that Reynas ok and she had a small abscess that was taken care of she should be all better after a few days of rest.

How I fell in love
by: Rather not say :)

I must have been about 5, just came out of my cars obsession. Every time on our way to the grocery store, we pass by this really beat up farm with dirty looking horses. When we would pass, I would beg my mom to let me ride the white one (that never happened lol.)

Eventually when I was six, she set up a riding lesson for me. I’ll never forget, I rode a thoroughbred/ quarter called tia, and she had no forelock! We ride at that stable for about 3 years till I was nine, then they went out of business.

So, we started riding with a new stable, that does saddle seat. They also let us shadow the grooms and help out around the stable!! We get to work with the saddlebreds and we learn so much there! It’s amazing, and it reminds me that I’m not alone, and there is people who get the need to be with & by horses!

Horses are life!
by: Anonymous

Hi! I first rode a horse when I was about six. His name was Nick and he was my sister's lesson horse.

When I was nine, my friend had a birthday party at a stable she took lessons at and I fell in love.

When I was ten, I took lessons for a while but had to stop. :( But then I started going to horse camp for three years now.

I'm fourteen and don't have a horse of my own but I take lessons once a week and my favorite lesson horse is a light grulla gelding named Stitch.

Ever since I started taking lessons and riding horses, I've never felt more alive. My parents won't get me a horse so if I want one I have to somehow get enough money to save up for one and pay for it.

Whenever I'm riding a horse I feel free and will gladly trade anything I own (maybe not my pets :)) to have a horse of my own.

Why I'm horse Crazy
by: Eagle Rock Stables

There are multiple reasons for why I'm horse-crazy. These are the reasons:

1) They help me build up my work ethic
2) They help me to love all other animals
3) Horses are elegant, even though during the spring, I come in looking like I was holding a cat that was shedding their winter coat, with horse hair all over my clothes😂
4) They help me "find myself"- They help me to be able to concentrate on what I need the most
5) Horses have helped me to not be so shy- before, I wouldn't talk to them or sing to them, but now I do! 😂
6) They help me to earn money from competitions
7) They are beautiful
8) They are the closest thing that you can get to flying (besides an airplane and things like that)
9) They can be a true reflection of yourself.
10) They have the capacity to care for others
11) They feel what you are feeling
12) They make great friends

That's all that I can fit for right now...

My Horse story
by: Anonymous

I started riding when I was 11 years old. At my barn, I have always felt like an outsider. I started out just riding school horses, but eventually I moved up to a shareboard horse named Zeus who I took to a local schooling show.

Just after that show I had to make a choice. My trainer was offered to be a barn manager of a different barn and I had to choose if I wanted to go with her. Obviously I chose to go with her, but it was difficult. I didn't know any of the horses and I only knew the people who moved with my trainer. (But barely) I rode my trainers horse Bella for 3 months, and I showed her in a schooling show.

But this December I found Bear. Bear is my current lease horse. He is turning 9 years old this January, and he is a quarter pony. He is everything I could have asked for. But still at my barn I feel like an outsider. I always feel like I am second best in my trainers eyes. If anyone has any advice please comment! I love horses and I want to be a riding instructor and horse trainer someday.

My crazy horse story
by: Horses Rock This World

WARNING: THIS COMMENT CONTAINS UTTER CRAZYNESS
At school I'm literally the only person who likes horses. I draw horses instead of doing maths and never do my homework because I'm busy riding. Everything I do is about horses and it drives everyone crazy!

My favourite breed of horse is a Arabian, and before I got a horse I rode a Arabian called Spirit. I ride at my riding stable once a week and volunteer at a therapeutic riding school. I have been riding since I was 5 and started competing in dressage last year.

I know no one out of the stables who likes horses, and everyone always puts me through a hard time cause I like horses and sometimes come to school with straw in my hair.

The horse who got me through this was a horse on my street called Luke. I gave him treats every day and after school he let me hug him forever if I had had a bad day.

But that didn't stop me being my crazy self!!!!

After 4 years of begging, I got a Arabian called Genie. Together we have won 10 blue ribbons and gotten into the nationals.

I also have 2 Shetland pony foals.

Horses rock this world!!!!!

Hi, my name is Chloe. The first time I ever sat on a horse's back, I did so without a saddle. Now, at this age I was extremely young, so I was much smaller in comparison to a horse. I thought they were giants!

Years later, when I turned 12, I met an old married couple who me and my dad happened to sit next to at a history tour in our town. We talked and they owned a ranch. I, at this point, loved horses. They invited me and my dad over and I got the opportunity to meet some horses.

Little did I know, one of them would turn out to be my best friend for the longest time. Her name was Love, she is currently 7 years old and I'm still riding her. She is, and always has been, my first real friend, and she is the reason I'm horse crazy today.

My Love for Horses
by: ClareR

I am horse crazy! I am a fairly new rider but am loving every moment of it. My trail riding horse is a black quater horse that is about 16 hands tall. Her name is Lady (18) but I am thinking of changing it to Primrose, but Prim for short. I ride a local neighbors where we go on trail rides and some trips in the mountains. They have four other horses: Sadie(18), Maggie(?) Jazz(15) Skider (?) All of their horses are Tennese Walkers execpt for Skider, she is a marbled thoughbred.

My Answer
by: Phoebe

Well, I honestly never had an interest in horses for a while. When I was in third grade, my grandparents bought a horse farm, and that's when I really started to get into it! I didn't start taking lessons right away, but when I did it was all I wanted to do.

I've been riding for a little over 4 years now, and own 3 horses, searching for my 4th. Majestic (14 year old Appy mare), Chief (12 year old Paint gelding), Skylar (10 year old black Morgan mare).
The thing I love about horses is they are always there for you. Sure they can't talk, but what they do better than anyone else is listen.

Whenever I need anything, my horses are there.

Whenever I need a pick me up, all I need is to hug my horse and and it's like a weight is lifted off of me.

You bond together, grow together, LIVE together. You become part of each other.

So maybe I'm not horse crazy, but I'm definitely horse in love.

I'm the horse-craziest girl to hit the frontier...
by: Nightmare613

Seriously, I'm not kidding. It all started when I was 9 years old and watched Spirit: Stallion of the Cimarron. For those who haven't seen it, leave and watch it NOW.

After that, I was hopelessly and happily horse-crazy. Having my own horse was out of the question, and still is sadly, but that won't stop me from being with them every chance I get!

I've worked in camps with horses, rode horses, watched videos and movies, read books (cried when I read Black Beauty!). Heck, when I was 12 I pleaded with my mom in the middle of a bookstore to buy me a HUGE encyclopedia on horses, which I then read cover to cover.

I'm still horse-crazy, and going for a career in Therapeutic Riding. And I'm still dreaming of my very own horse.

So, I was at a horse camp and one of the activities was corral ride. So I raised my hand. There were about ten people doing this. I have ridden horses before, but not for about 2 years. I was on longe line and I trotted on my first day of the corral ride! We always ride bareback there. It is so much fun! I kinda went horsecrazy after that.

Why i'm so horse crazy!
by: MustangMaggie

When I was four years old, my mom hired a pony to come to my birthday party. That day, I fell in love with horses!

Every summer until I was eight I did summer camps, but I wanted to ride more! When we moved up North I was heartbroken that I would have to leave my favorite pony and my homeland.

But as much as I hate the cold weather up here I'm glad I moved, because I met the horse of my dreams. His name is Brady, and even though I can't afford a horse of my own, I take care of him and ride as much as I can!

I hope to get a horse of my own soon.

Horse Beauty
by: Horseless Horse Lover

I love horses because of their beauty. Not how they look but how they show their affection.

I also love to write horse stories because they make me feel like I actually have a horse. I live in New York so it's hard to keep and take care of a horse. My parents (mostly my dad) won't let me have one. I can't take horse back riding lessons either.

For my birthday, I'm asking for one thing-a model horse made of glass.

The horse is so elegant. It really brings the inner beauty of a horse for all to see on the outside. I love horses!

Why I love horses
by: Skye

I have loved horses as far back as I can remember. I had always wanted to ride them but never could because I never lived near a barn until about five to six years ago.

I remember the day my mom told me I was going to start riding horses like it was yesterday.

She was sitting in our kitchen and called me in. She said "You've always wanted to take horse lessons, so you get to go on Tuesday!" I danced around for about ten minutes, I was super happy!

I rode a pony named Nugget, and she was amazing, but she sadly passed away last year, we don't know how, though. We think something attacked her.

Here is my history in owning horses:

Before I was born, my Mom had a Mustang, named Blaze. He was perfect until a few years after she bought him, I can still go see him when I go to South Carolina. But last year, on Christmas, I got my first horse, Mikey.

My mom gave me a necklace with "Life is Better with a Horse" and it had Mikey on it. He is an Appendix. He got two champions, a chair, and over ten first place ribbons with me at his first show! I think he is a true champion in the making.

Horses are my life!
by: EquineElla

I am an equestrian. I am that one kid who is madly obsessed with horses, that one socially awkward quiet kid who draws horses on every thing. This is my life, and I love it.

I have always loved horses and have always wanted one, but my real journey started when I was eight years old.

When I was eight years old I started riding. I learned to ride on a strawberry roan pony called Jock, when my instructor was teaching me how to tack up a horse, I remember thinking that I would never remember where all of the straps went and how to get the pony to open their mouth.

In my first lesson, I spent half of it on the lead rope, I learned how to stop and turn and how to make Jock walk on, I even learned how to rise up and down to the trot, but the ting I remember the most is the feeling of pure joy when I was around the horses.

Now I have been riding for nearly four years and I still have a lot to learn, and when I say a lot I mean a lot, people often ask me if I get scared of falling off, well, I'm not really scared of the fall ore the pain and loss of trust.

My favourite horse at my horse riding is a beautiful paint filly called Salsa, she is not broken in yet because she is still only three but when the time comes I am going to have a lot of fun with her!

All you people who had experienced getting a horse taken away from you when you got so close to them, that's what happened to me.

Horses are amazing
by: Anonymous

I love horses because they are amazing and I love their smell. They have such a calming, reassuring smell that can lift a burden of stress right off my shoulders. They are beautiful, strong, sweet, and big (most of the time), and they give riders such freedom.

I once read on an AQHA advertisement in a Young Rider magazine, 'You keep him safe, and he gives you freedom' and boy, is that true!

It is hard to believe that I was once afraid of some neighbors' horses. I adore horses, and I am not afraid to show them that I'm the boss. Which is good, because my horse, Toby, had been a young children's horse before he came to us and was used to being able to get his way. So through gentleness and firmness and consistency, I have been able to confirm myself as herd leader. He does often try to rebel against my leadership, but I just have to remind him he can't get away with all the things he could when those little kids were riding him. :)

My horse is now the BEST (no offense to other horse crazy girls' best horses!) and he's a beautiful Palomino Quarter Horse. I love him so much! He loves the horse cookies I bake for him. :)

Why Am I Horse Crazy?
by: MollyE

I have been horse crazy from the start! There was something about horses that brought the best out in me. They were true friends and I could tell them anything!

When we looked at my mare online when she was for sale. I thought she was the most ugly horse in the world. She was skinny and tall, very unhealthy looking. We thought to look at her though.

When we arrived to visit her she freaked out. She was almost starved there and reacted horribly to the girth. But she did everything I asked. She changed me, I knew she was the one for me!

We bought her and made her shine like the beautiful horse she is! Now she is tall and fat, healthy and beautiful she also has a very long thick tail. She has brought me deeper into the equestrian world. So if you ask why I am horse crazy? I have my amazing mare to thank.

I love reading books about them, watching movies about them, playing games about them, and being with them. Ever since I could walk practically I was down at the stable, cleaning stalls, cleaning tack, grooming horses, doing waters, feeding, and anything else that enabled me to be near horses. Why I love horses
by: Mikaylah

Hi, I have loved horses ever since I was a little girl. My grandpa Robert owns, trains and shows minis which is what I used to ride when I was little. My mom grew up on a farm and so do I in Ontario, Canada. My parents got me my own horse when I was 7 years old, I'm 14 in 16 days and I have loved horses my whole life. Last night my dad said when you guys don't want to ride anymore we're going to need glue, he was just kidding but I said "no never will I out grow the I love horses phrase." We are actually getting another horse next week its supposed to be a surprise for me but I found out my parents sent me the picture of our horse instead of my grandparents. Lol

I Love Horses Because
by: Anonymous

When I was about five years old I took riding lessons. I've loved horses ever since. Soon, my parents can't afford lessons, but I learn and have learned everything I can about them. My first memory was my first ride. They have impacted my health and happiness in many ways. I go to horse camp to ride whenever I can. I don't know what it is about horses, but they have such an amazing impact. I will love horses forever. Thank you!

I Love Horses!
by: TB Lover

I have loved horses for YEARS! I take riding lessons once a week but when winter comes I have to stop for a couple months. I ride an Arabian named Bou. I am hoping to get my own horse soon. I love horses withers and manes and the way they rear when they're excited, and how they gallop at full speed. I can't wait to start riding again this year!

I wish I could have a horse so bad. I'm in pony club once a month and I'm going to start lessons twice a month in March and I'm also on a horse judging team. I wish I could be with the horses more though. It's this consistent ache in my heart that keeps telling me to something about but I can't I'm to young for a job! I have to limit my self to model horses and books and drawing and researching them, and riding my dream horse.

My Life With Horses
by: Allie

I have been in love with horses since I was around 6 and always wanted one. I remember my parents talking to other people about how it was a phase but I am 13 now and I still want a horse so I guess they were wrong. The only time I can be around horses is when I volunteer and go see my moms friend who has 4 horses. I don't understand how I love horses so much because no one in my family has horses or loves horses like me. It pains me knowing that I can't have a horse, I can't lease a horse, and I can't even take lessons because I have type one diabetes and my insurance is really expensive and I wish that it didn't have to be me but you can't change what already happened so I have to live with it until there is a cure. So when I pray for a cure I pray for a horse.

I'm Horse Crazy Because
by: Severelyhorseobsessed

I'm horse crazy because... well it's kinda hard to explain. Trust me it's not a little over the top but a lot over the top. So here goes. It's because it seems like horses are humans. They always listen and never comment back. They don't care what you look like they don't judge. They may dump you but they still love you. I boy or best friend will dump you and walk away never to be nice again. But horses are so beautiful and majestic and loving and gentle and kind. I love the feeling of being free and on those bad days taking off at a full gallop and crying in your horses mane. I am so glad I found HCG it's my home. I can talk with girls who love horses just as much as I do. You guys could be my best friends but horses are first in my list. Lol. Love you guys!

The Key
by: Jademerson

I don't have a depression disorder or anything, I'm just pessimistic. Whenever something would go wrong or I would fight with a friend I would let myself cry over it for ten minutes, and then I would bottle up any residual emotions. This made me cold over the years, and almost psychopathic.
When I began riding and training, I came across a horse named Luna. She's a paint with half a blue eye. She was very sensitive, and almost a basket case. My coldness didn't help either. Slowly with training and gaining her trust, I became her Alpha and unwound the years of hurt and heartbreak. She taught me to trust and feel again myself. We harmonize with each other because we both understand heartbreak, and confusion, and hurt. We both understand adapting in ways we both regret, and we certainly understand that all things happen for a reason. Years ago I might've asked why things happened, but now I know, if I hadn't been burned there would've been nothing standing between this horse and undoubted death.

Don't Listen To Them!
by: Dreamer

Sometimes people act like that to me too because I'm always saying how much I love horses and stuff. If you want to know how to not let them get satisfaction then just smile (that is extremely aggravating) at them and don't act riled at all. If you want to heap coals of fire on their heads and make them feel guilty for being mean to you, say something nice to them and just act nice or you could just walk away. I'm sorry they are like that to you. I would much rather have a friend that is a horse than care what people like that think. Anyway, since Jesus loves you and so do horses probably just don't pay attention to them. I hope this helps and I'm very sorry if it doesn't.

Your friend,
Joy

I used to be a girly-girl playing princess stuff like that but during my summer break. We were driving through Nevada and we stopped to sleep for the night and we have the windows rolled down and when I woke up there was a horse trying to eat my book. He was wild I named her Comet and I got out of the car and was not paying any attention to the field, I went to grab on a tracking stickers to put on her. When I looked up I saw a whole herd of horses out in the fields, I grabbed the whole bag of tracking stickers and put them on all of them. I rode Comet around for a bit we had to leave after a while. I have the herd on a tracking app. I hope I can see Comet again, from then on I have truly been a horsecrazy girl.

Hi, my love for horse has been around for years. I have ridden horses most of my life and here's a sweet story for you.

I was doing horses through 4-H and I as sadly put in English ridding! I only knew western. So I go to my project and see this adorable white pony. I am greeted and get to go out to the horses. Get a brush and get to brush this pony, they say his name is Merrylegs, an 11 year old stallion Shetland pony. They tack him up and I get to ride him two years later I am riding a horse called Samson (or Sam) I am thrown off because he go thorn by a bush! Turns out my arm is broken. Get a call and they say I can have Merrylegs! I bonded with a horse and he is my best friend forever, he is now 13years old. I still have him and that's why I am a horse crazy girl!

Why I'm Horse Crazy?
by: Sarah

Because horses are beautiful, wonderful creatures. I love working with them and achieving bonds and desired responses. Riding them makes me feel great, with the wind rushing in my ear. Horses are our closest partners and are very intelligent. They put up with us getting on their backs every day, and don't judge. The rider and horse bond is so strong that even though the horse could endanger its rider whenever it wanted to it chooses not to because of its love for its fellow human. It's fun to also take care of them as almost a pet.

Why am I horse crazy? Glad you asked! First is because horses are so majestic, beautiful, they don't care about you past or what you have done wrong, they care about you. They don't even care who you used to be, they care about who you are. They listen without arguing, complimenting or even talking back. They are to me angels on earth. When you ride them you feel free and forget all your problems and just let everything go away. It's be bond time for you and your horse. I hope to get a horse soon. I'm in pony club and might start leasing in a few years. I hope.(: so never give up and that is why I love horses.

Horses are my life
by: Sunshine

Hello,

I just wanted to add a comment on why I am as totally, utterly, completely horse crazy.

It all started when I met Honey. Honey was a beautiful, large, chestnut horse (who I only later discovered was a stallion)

I met honey whilst walking to school, aged 10,
and spend ages just standing and watching him.
He looked part arab, and was stunning. I fell in love with honey, and from that day onwards I walked to honey each day before school. I didn't tell anyone about him, because most people I knew thought stallions were dangerous, but honey wasn't. He was shy and easily spooks though, but after 5 weeks, honey and I bonded and we accepted and loved each other.

I now take weekly riding lessons and horses have become my life.

I hope that you know how I feel and that everyone can experience the same bond that me and honey have.

I still see honey most days, although I don't go to the same school :)

Sunshine x

Horses are a GIRLS best friend!
by: Bronte

Hi!
I love horses so so much. Since i was three i loved horses but i only got to ride my step sisters horse once maybe every 2 months. As any horsey person knows, THAT IS REALLY HARD TO STAND!
Finally 9 years later of me bugging my mum 24/7 i finally have my own pony! He is a chestnut gelding and his name is Stewart. I know very unusual.he is newly broken in and to be honest, a bit cheeky. I'm looking for some tips on how to get him to listen to me and stay trotting without me nearly falling off! So here is the full situation.
When i trot him i am so busy trying to concentrate on posting (i am fairly new) after around 1 lap of our round yard he slows down. Because i am so focused on trotting properly that when i try to squeeze hi with my legs i lose balance and so on. What can i do? i really don't like hitting horses hard with a whip but should i use a small crop? and just tap him lightly?
Thanks heaps to reading all my rambling! :P

You know how it is when it comes to horses! HAHA!
Thanks heaps guys!

Found the love xx
by: LilyLovesShamous

I haven't ridden horses since I was 3, I haven't been born in a barn, I don't have a pony, I have only had 2 lessons on riding yet we have a connection, the horse and me.

When I was 6 I walked past a riding centre and said "wow mummy horse riding looks fun, can I?" I never did but ever since deep down I knew it was a sport, a hobby, a love, a bond that was for me, in such a deep down place that I needed to be reminded.

My friend which sadly moved school has another story. She has ridden for 3 years and now has a stunning mare called Skye. I loved her. She really made me want to ride. And I got some horsey books for Xmas and that was were I found my connection and love for horses.

For my birthday, I had a ride and groom LR lesson, it was great! I rode a 14h cheeky boy called olly and we really touched hearts! And 3 months later my love grew and grew so.. I got lessons! I have had 2 so far - a gentle boy called Shamous! And that leads up to now. I play horsey games, draw horses, read horses and now, ride horses! xx

A Memory Not To Forget
by: Horse Listener

Ever since I can remember, my family has always been all about horses. I have a horse at my mom's, but I live with my dad and want a horse there to when I'm away from my mom.

I've always begged my dad for a horse and he always came up with an excuse. Then one day, in August, when I came home after spending 10 days at a camp in GP, my dad asked me if I would like my birthday gift early. Of course I did, who wouldn't want there birthday gift early, although this was two months early.

So, my step mom blind folded me and led me outside, in front of the garage while my dad video taped. He told me to plug my hears because it might be loud, and so I did. Then, when my step mom removed the blind fold (a bandanna) from my eyes, I saw a red dun, with a black dorsal stripe and zebra leg markings standing in front of me.

Turns out, his name is Poko, he's 13, 13 hands high, and has became my best friend from the very first day. I will never forget that moment of my life ever.

by: Dreamer

I love horses. I don't remember when I started liking them- I think I just always did. My mom said I've been drawing them since I was like,3.11years. The first time I got a horse is when I was 10 but he was not a gelding and was super mean. We had to give him away when we moved and I was heartbroken even if he'd never liked me. When I was 12 we boarded three of our neighbors horses.Idaho was a sixteen yer old quarter horse and I would just sit on him bareback no reins and hang on with my legs when he broke into I gallop. (I did fall off several times tho )he was my favorite. But then we moved again and soo. Yeah. I still don't have a horse but I pray every night and hint to my parents(many times) every day. So there you go that's why I love horses because they are beautiful and awesome and totally Gods greatest miracle.

A girl's best friend
by: Penelope M

I have liked horses since I was very small. When I grew older I fell desperately in love with them! My passion for them only grows with each passing year. Unfortunately, my family could not pay for me to have Riding lessons -- so I had to love them from afar for many years. I read all I could about them. I devoured every scrap of horsey anything I could find. I worked hard and saved every penny I could. At last, at thirteen years old, my dream came true. I finally rode a horse for the first time. I only rode at a walk on a casually plodding lesson horse, but for me, I was flying. Just being around the animal of my dreams was enough. At last, when I reached out to touch the horse's satiny coat, real warm horseflesh met my hand. No longer did the dream vanish like an elusive mirage.
Finally, horses have begun to take on a larger role in my life. Though riding has not been constant, I know if I work hard and pray hard, my horsey dreams will come true.
I love horses, not only for their beauty and grace, but for their faithful companionship and their quirkiness too! They will never give you a chance to feel bored. A horse can be your best friend. They will faithfully keep all your secrets. Horses give us wings. They can teach us so much about love, patience, and hope. They can help us to rise above our sorrows. Horses are not machines. They do not automatically do whatever we ask. We must love them, and build a relationship with them. Once you earn a horse's trust and form that strong bond, your love will be returned. You help each other to grow.
The list could go on forever. In sum, I love EVERY SINGLE THING about horses. Mucking stalls, horse-hair blizzards, and horse slobber included!

Whoever said diamonds are a girl's best friend didn't know anything about horses!

My horse Dually
by: Emily Jacobs

I remember the day I got dually my beautiful gelding. The day my mare Kitty bucked me off me and my dad had a little chat Kitty had bucked many other people off {because she was a mustang} me and my dad decided to put her down. R.I.P my beautiful Kitty ;(. Then the next day we went to put her down. then my dad surprised me and the top notch gelding was mine. But at least we have the one colt Kitty ever had Dually. So that is the story of Kitty and Dually. Speak up about your horses story it makes you feel better so get the word out it really does help.

Horse Lover
by: Yakira

I have never owned a horse of my own but I have grown up around horses. My sisters were all horse crazy once but they have all lost that craze. (I'm not planning too in a VERY long time!) But I do ride sometimes with my brother, his wife, and a man named Mr. Dan who I might be working for this summer (so excited)! Even though I don't own my own horse, I like to pretend that Mr. Dan's HUGE black Quarter Horse named Stony is mine! (Which is kind of funny since he's huge and I'm short!)

The Start of my love for Horses
by: Erika

I never was that "horse crazy since she was born"kind of girl, but I don`t think that makes me any LESS of a horse loving girl. I was in Grade 5 and 10 years old when our new neighbours moved in. They were Mennonite (not the strict kind) and had a lovely pony named Hero. He was sweet and gentle and I had my first ever ride on him. Bareback and the neighbour girl led me. I remember holding him tightly at first, then relaxing and thinking. "This pony is okay he won't hurt me!"My brothers were scared and my twin sister too, but I felt a click with Hero. I would come over everyday after school and lead him around, pet him, hug him and tell him how great he was. They had no brushes, his tail was matted, his hooves were overgrown he was BEAUTIFUL! I loved him like crazy and every day I would get over there as fast as I could. The neighbours didn't take good care of him but I loved him like my own. he was skinny and I know he was sick. No vet ever came during the year they lived there, No farrier ever arrived to check him. Their father had bought him for the kids and they didn't know a thing about horses. I didn't know much either but I knew something was wrong. I still loved him and took care of him as much as I could, my darling sweet baby that tried his heart out even when he could barely breath, when his back ached and he lay down with dull eyes, when I had to make him a bran mash made from the oatmeal from my own breakfast. My lovely Hero that I couldn't imagine life without. Then the bombshell came. My neighbours were leaving, and Hero had to go. I didn't think much of it they told me it would be months away. I frantically spent every second of my life with him. The neighbour girl came over and showed him to my parents and grandparents. My grandpa looked at him with a spark of love in his eyes. He said, "If I was young again I'd buy you."He sighed and I saw tears in his old eyes. Grandpa! I wanted to scream. Buy him for me! but i couldn't my throat closed up. My mom said I couldn't buy him and my dad grew angry-"He had enough of this 'horse business" I cried myself to sleep again and again and gained weight from all the stress. I am still fat from that and the doctor says I have to stop stressing out but the memories haunt me. Anyways, The neighbours were frequently gone and I had the place to myself and I used it. One day I came to take a picture of Hero. I had never taken one before and never had one. I looked all over but he was gone. The house was deserted and no one was there. I cried myself to sleep that night, not daring to believe that he was really gone. I waited and waited. A year later I realized he was gone. My world was so dark, so bleak. Only my BFF and almost-sister helped me to stay out of the funk. She hugged me and cried with me, helped me through it as I entered middle school with her. We have been BFFs since kg and still are BFFs. We are so close that I have dreamed, at the same time as it happened, what she was doing at her house one night. I remember thinking, "She wants a snack" and Yvonne later said it was true she was hungry! we are still BFFs but Hero was my own. I tried to forget Hero and horses, all things equine really but never could. Now I have had 2 riding lessons but I know I will not have a horse, ever. I still love them and am very happy I might get a mini pony soon. Her name is Sadie and she loves asparagus stalks!;) Hero taught me through his own gentle nature that love can never be wasted and will always be returned if you love enough. Thank You Hero for your wonderful memories! Love you forever baby!<3

A New Horse to Love
by: Meghan

I didn't always love horses I always and still love all animals but this one day my uncle bought this horse, Bently. He is an appaloosa. He was beautiful.

I instantly fell in love with him and we just had a very special connection. I begged my parents to let me do lessons and pretty soon I was taking lessons, then I had to stop for personal reasons. A year later I got back into ridding then I had to take the summer off and never went back.

But my uncle still had Bently and he was the reason I did all this. I doubted that I really even loved horses any more. Then one day I went to go see Bently and It all came back now me and Bently ride all the time together.

I taught myself how to ride now me and Bently do barrel racing together but one day we were getting ready for a show and Bently droped. Everything stopped for me and I didn't know what to do. We took Bently to the vet and he told us Bently had a very severe case of colic and he would not make it.

Later that night Bently died. I didn't know what to do. Bently was my only friend we had a special connection and now I will never be able to see him again.

After that my uncle got another horse but this time it was for me my very own horse I thought I could never love another horse. I thought I would never have such a best friend.

I wasn't mean to my new horse Sammy but he just wasn't the same till one day there was a fire at the barn. That night I decided to sleep with Sammy.

I breathed in too much smoke and became unconscious and Sammy broke out of his stall and dragged me out of the barn. There were no other horses in the barn and Sammy was fine and I went to the hospital. But I was ok too.

When I got out of the hospital I felt the same connection that was between me and Bently. n

No horse could ever replace him but I did have room for Sammy now too. Now Sammy and I take lessons together at a fancy barn and compete in cross country.

A Miracle
by: Horselover14

My horsecrazy life begins with friendship.

I don't remember the first time I saw my best friend. Since I can't say her real name, for now I'm calling her Barrelracer101. Barrelracer101 and I have been friends ever since I can remember. We used to go to the same school, so we would go to school, play, come back and play until the sun went down and after. then, horses came into the picture.

One way or another, we fell in love with horses and grew up adoring them. We pretended to be horses, ride horses, and own horses. Our bikes and scooters magically transformed into horses, her sister even joined us in pretending to groom our horses by washing our bikes. But we never dreamed of owning one, not until we started riding them.

For Christmas my grandma purchased me four horse riding lessons. so, I told Barrelracer101 about them. She had saved up a lot of money to buy something, but no longer wanted it. So she had a lot of money and no way to spend it. So guess what. HORSE RIDING LESSONS TOGETHER!!!!!! It was a blast and we couldn’t stop chattering on about it!

That continued for about four more years and then. that was it. we HAD to own our own horse. This has caught to present... and the future.

We have our plan all planned out. Here it is.

We raise money until our mare is born, then we buy her and name her Miracle. Because owning her will be a miracle. We will keep her at a stable near to Barrelracer101's house. But, as a back up plan, if we run out of money, or get kicked out, we will keep her at my family's (future) farm.

We aren't going to make her stick to one activity, we aren't even competing with her. She will be a different kind of horse, trail, pleasure, and fast. She will be a beautiful bay, and we have a certain line we would like her to come out of. Miracle will be a miracle but we believe. If we do get her (which, we will) Disney will be right in the fact that dreams come true, although they aren't called dreams... ...they're called Miracles

I hope it comes true for both of you!

100% horsecrazy without a horse
by: Veena-jane (from Australia

Hi my name is veena-jane and i currently live in australia. I live with my sister and my grandmother. i am veeeerrrry horse crazy and have been all my life. In fact, my first teddy I ever was given was a bay quarter horse and i still have it today.

Anyway, I have horse posters all around my room and i have horse magazines and books everywherrrre.

I have horse figurines and a giant horse that I pin on my curtains and I'm thinking of getting a horse bed spread. Anyway I have always dreamed of having my own horse and I have wanted one so bad that I even have my own imaginary horse. He is a gelding and he is a piebald (paint) and his name is Ally - haha i know right weird!

There was a Shetland pony down the road that i always used to go feed and I fell in love with that adoring little mare. Her name was Elenor even though i just called her penny haha. It's weird cause my grandmothers name is elenor.

One day I stopped seeing the little Shetland because I had to much school work and my grandmother didn't let me go down to see her anymore. I cried and I cried and I cried till eventually my grandma too me down to see her.

Just recently this year I was on the bus and i was reading one of my pony pal's book and I looked out the window and i saw that the lady had moved so I started crying again.

After the lady had moved another lady moved in a property couple of streets away from mine and she owns a couple of ponies and quarter horses.

Anyway's yeah so this is my story and guess what i might be getting a horse after like 3 years of begging!!!

Anyways bye and i hoped ya'll has liked my life experience
bye! xox

Note from Sydney at HorseCrazyGirls.com

You definitely sound horsecrazy!:) I waited a long time to get my horse Sinatra too so I can relate. I hope this year brings you the horse of your dreams!

Alexandra (a.k.a Lexi ) is a 12 year old Rocky Mountain Horse. She is gorgeous! Her body is black and she has white mane.

Why I Love Horses
by: Eurydice

The main reason I like horses is because they're beautiful creatures, and they come in all different shapes and sizes and colors, and when you want one, there are so many kinds to choose from!

To me, horses are my life. I hate people who abuse horses just because they want to compete and win money. That's cruel. And I'm totally against horse slaughter. Slaughter is a horse's nightmare. Hopefully we can save these horses and give them a better and happier life.

I wish i had a horse, but my mom and dad say that when I'm older, I'll be able to own as much horses as I want. I might just rescue horses.

I am horsecrazy because i think horses are sweet and majestic. horses are so great because it's like they listen to everything you do. i also think it's amazing when you ride them because they are so perfectly willing. even when you fall it's hard to not forgive the horse.

I lovee just going to my old pony Frosty's stall and hugging her because i can express all of my feelings to her. I'm super horse crazy because when i see them and you look into there eyes and you either see calmness or spirit. i think that every horse is special in there own way.

I love horses because they are so beautiful and majestic and the coolest to ride around. They are so much better than cars because can you really build a good relationship with you car and will your car protect you from danger out of love?

Horses are always there for you when you need them some times I think they are even better than people. They love you and trust you and they consider you as their family. And can a car rub against you and show you all it's love? I didn't think so!

My love
by: Katie

My love for horses has always been existent. I used to take Western lessons, but then quit for about 1 or 2 years. I don't know now how I could have stood being away from horses for that long!! Now, I take wonderful lessons at a farm that has everything a horse lover would dream about. I lease a beautiful horse named Angel (Kiss me Not), who was a world champion rein-er. I now ride English, and am getting to jump higher and higher jumps! I love to play with Angel at Liberty, and she follows me at the canter over jumps and such. When she is in a good mood XD ) Just today she was doing a little bit of the Spanish Walk at Liberty!! I was so proud of her. I am so thankful for my experience with horses, and hope that I will be able to get one of my own, like my sister, soon.
