okay there is 24 books in this series written by terri farley who has the same love of horses its about a girl named sam she had to move away from her ranch in nevada and live with her aunt in san Francisco after a bad horse accident with her not very well trained horse that she raised from a baby but then she comes back after two long years and theres a white phantom horse that sam just knows is her old horse sams adventures are interesting with her friends jen and jake by her side

This is the all time best horse series out there! A teenage girl named Sam secretly befriends a wild mustang, while living at her ranch in Nevada, along with riding her own horse, Ace. Each book is action packed with adventures and dreams and feelings that all of us horse people can relate too.
The author, Terri Farley, must be a really good writer, because whenever Sam is mad at someone else in the book, usually Linc Slocum, i'm mad at them too! Each book features a different horse and a new problem or threat to Zanzibar's herd. (Zanzibar is Sams secret name for the Phantom, the wild horse she befriends.) Read throughout the series as foals get born, people get arrested, Sam saves slaughterbound horses, and SO MUCH MORE!! Here are some captions from the backs of some of the Phantom stallion series:

It is about a girl called Sm who fell off her young colt called Blackie. Sam is sent to San Francisco for 2 years and when she returns her horse Blackie becomes the owner of a wild herd. He is now a beautiful grey.
The series is about Sam, Jenifer, Jake, Bryana, Dallas who all live on River Bend, 3 ponies & goldust ranch ranch and of course Ace, Silly Witch and obviously Phantom.
Sam and her best friend Jen get into amazing adventures to save the Phantom Stallion aka Blackie.

Sam rescues this large horse from and auction and tries to find it's talent.some had already bought him but the big horse jumped thefence of their corall and ran althe way to rver band and jumped n to the pature there. Sam get's help from her friends to find this giant horse's talent and true home. Meanwhile sam has a communtee servuse assiment that has to be done and presented to the studen counssul well i don't want give too much away! Happy reading

I loved the Phantom Stallion. Not only was it a page turner, but it was beautifully written. Listen to this passage:
"If this was a dream, Sam never wanted to awake.
The stallion arched his neck and pawed three times.
Water drops scattered like diamonds."
The other thing I likes about this book is that it weaves in information about horses without preaching. Readers may understand a bit why their parents sometimes get nervous about their girls and horses!
I highly recommend this book.
