Best Christmas with Evalynn and I

by Jessalyn

I ran into the living room to see what Santa has gotten me. Clothes, books, etc. I had prayed and wished to own a horse since I was 7 and now I'm 11. It was 6 in the morning too early for my mom. She woke up at 7:30 and we talked. She had said I have one more present.

We hopped into the car and drove to a place called Silver Peak Stables a place to board horses. When we got out of the truck, I threw open the gate, and there stood a beautiful bay overo paint. Her blue eyes sparkled with the ray of sunshine and her chocolate colored hair flew in the wind. I stared at her until my mom came and the paint threw a whinny out like saying,"YAY." She told me this was the present. My heart throbbed out of my chest and tears come strolling down my cheeks. I ran up to her and threw my arms around her. I gave her kisses everywhere on her face. Now its time to ride my horse.

My mom put a saddle on her and everything. I hopped on her and carefully but confidently kicked her in the side. Even though that was my first horse, I felt like I have been riding for years. Obviously not when I fell off. We were galloping at top speed when I fell off. My mom came and the horse came around and nudged me. I got up and saw her again. At that moment I named the blue-eyed bay overo paint Evalynn.

To this day we are together and she is 12 years old. :)

Thanks for reading!
