I ran outside to get my bike and ride to the stable. It was the middle of November and there was already snow on the ground. The stable was about 10 minutes by car so I suspected it would take me thirty minutes or less.

My parents had just had a huge fight and I wanted to get out of the house as soon as possible. Finally, when I got to the stable, I walked into the barn and saw my lesson teacher.

"Jenna, what are you doing here?" Cindy said as she started walking toward me.

"I am wondering if I could get a job at the stable." I said worried.

"Well, what would you do?" She asked.

"Um, maybe I could muck stalls, saddle horses, water the horses, groom, feed, and much more."

"I guess I could have a stable hand."

As I started screaming inside of my head I just smiled on the outside. "When should I start?"

"Well, how about tomorrow after school, like, 5:00 or whenever."

I smiled and then Cindy smiled at me and told me where everything was. As I was walking close behind her off to the side I ran into a girl about my age.

Tall, lean, beautiful blond hair, and full black eyelashes. Black knee-high Ariat boots, tan breeches, white polo shirt, black riding gloves, silver riding helmet and a whip under her arm.

"Watch where you are going!"

I suspected she was an English rider, jumper probably.

"Sorry," I said, still focusing on her.

I was such a loser compared to her. Me with my black 2 inches above my ankle ariat boots, jeans, black dusty riding gloves, worn out riding helmet and a purple vest that we got on sale at Lands End Outlet store.

As she studied me and me to her she rolled her eyes and just walked away.

The tour was over and it was then that it hit me, I have a barn enemy. I have never had a barn enemy before. I told Cindy I had to go and then she waved goodbye and about 30 minutes later I got home.

My Mom started blowing off at me about how there are many more things just than horses. She wanted me to go to yale but I didn't want to.

I asked my Mom where my Dad was and she said that he was not here. I asked her where he was and she said with sadness in her eyes, he is.... TO BE CONTINUED!!!
